    1. RE: [CFTW] Ancestral Time Line
    2. Ira, I may have found a possible reason for that: when the HP Laserjet 5 was selected as the default printer, the report worked well; the problem was when the Adobe PDFWriter was selected as the default printer. Any idea why this may be happening? 3. Don, I'm afraid I might forget to make the changes manually on 31 Mar, so you should let me know again when you actually want them made. I'm up to my ears trying to make my own changes since installing the cable modem and having to switch servers. 3. Hi! I have a problem with viewing my sources. The icon for sources show up on every IRN where I have put a source. But when I choose the sourcetab to check it, nothings there except the icon (no text). If I go to the souce editor I can see every event that it's connected to. What to do to get it to show on the souce tab on every IRN? I have done a rebuild. Jens Bahr

But I think he forgot to change the output according to the new option. The following phrases should be ommitted in the html-reports for single tiered sources: Line 310015: * Number in brackets { } indicate the number reference in Bibliography. Line 310013: * Number in brackets { } indicate the number reference in Repocitory List. A comment on the 3-tier source option: I am not using the Repository for any of my sources. Will it be possible to add a new output option on Html Reports (and all other reports) - ommitting the Repository? Like this: 2-Tier: Citation, Bibliography. Sigurd Eliassen Norway

    3. Hi Mike, You can get a pretty good representation of your requirements using one of the standard reports. Try the following:- Standard Individual List Fields: Line 1 Type Special: (birth year - death year) Line 2 Type Event: Birth, Event: Place, Tag: None Lines 3 - 5 blank Preview and Save as text file Sex is automatically output. Read in to spreadsheet as text file and parse into columns for Sex, Age, Name, Years and Place. All you need do then is split the birth and death years out of the bracketed expression to calculate the age. Hope this helps. 1. What is On-Topic & What is Off-Topic (Was: [CFTW] Crashes)
    2. CFT-WIN Listowner
    3. Doug, thank you for the support. I do know what Rik was talking about, since so many Mailing Lists get COMPLETELY off-topic and that makes it difficult to carry on business about the core subject. But people like Rik must understand that the subject sometimes reaches out to cover more than just the very narrow core. Now, I do not approve of general discussions here on viruses, because there IS a Mailing List for that subject, but if it concerns the CFTW program, then it IS pertinent. Likewise, general discussions of computer and Windows problems do not belong here, BUT if it has to do with the operation of CFTW, it DOES belong here. Thanks, SgtGeorge George W. 3. Hi, All-- With the possible exception of the anal-retentive Mr. Rik, I think most of you will be happy to hear that my CFTW 2.50 has not crashed since I downloaded the long Windows 95 file around March 10. I don't know if this is the reason for my good fortune or not, but it surely looks as though it might have had something to do with it. Believe me. Seven days is a long time between crashes when it comes to my good buddy CFTW and me. Needless to say, I am thrilled to death with this fortuitous turn of events and I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind advice and suggestions. Of course you folks aren't off the hook yet. If I were you, I would keep my fingers crossed--just in case. walt [email protected]

    3. Hi Ira >> One idea would be rather than making the place >> name line up in a column have it appended to the date. >> Then you'd see things like: .... What do you think? Ira No - I think my idea will result in a better looking output overall, because it will retain the excellent appearance that you have already implemented - I am VERY happy with the HTML. In other words, if the events for an individual only have "single" dates (even if prefixed with "abt", "bef", "aft" etc) then the output will look exactly as it does now, with the left of the place name column lining up, because ALL these dates can fit into the 15 character space that is available for the date. Only if there are events that have "double", or "long" free format dates, will the place for that (and only that) event be shifted to the right. I suspect that in most cases "single" dates are way in the majority, with "double", or "long" dates only occasionally being used. Thus in most cases the place column will line up nicely, with ONLY an occasional line being shifted to the right. This is a way around the limited date space, and that is what I meant when I referred to "an acceptable compromise" - Not perfect, but better than having information chopped off. In 3.06 you must be using a small formula to calculate the leading spaces you require to right justify the date. If you just remove the truncation of the date string to 15 characters, and substitute your formula with my formula, then you will achieve what I have described above. John Smith South Africa
