    1. [CFTW] Backup
    2. Ian Westergaard
    3. I have v3.07. When closing my database the auto backup feature saves the backup to the same folder as the database. This is pointless as the purpose of a backup is to have it on a different media. I have changed the backup drive and folder in the backup dialogue box and can backup to the correct drive and folder from there but the auto backup will not. I did not have this problem with v3.5 Ian Westergaard In Central Otago, New Zealand Where it is Sunny, Cold & Frosty

    1. [CFTW] Some more for the WISH LIST
    2. Hugo Slater
    3. Hello there Ira I am not sure when your 'Wish List' expires ... but some further ideas. i) Is it possible to spread the icons out on the main page. Some are so close the Subtitles overlap ? ii) On the 'Edit Event' pages, where there is a lengthy location name, say, the name disappears out to the side, and althou there are "active" scroll bars at the side, the name does not fill the second line. Is it possible to heighten this box ? iii) Would it be possible to add "Step-child" to the type of children ? This is my second most popular type after Birth and before Adopted. iv) Whenever I import a GEDCOM that has an "about" date, the date has always lost it's first number ie. abt 1954 becomes abt 954. I am aware this may be a fault with the original GEDCOM, but I have entered about 30 from different sources and this is always the case. Is there a fix ? Hope this is of some help. Best wishes Hugo Slater [email protected]

I have done a rebuild of my DB. I am uncertain when the bug mentioned was introduced but seems to be happening to several people. There are really only two fixes. 1. As before mentioned highlight the top image in Selected and press the UP button (I do not mean the up arrow - the button at top of window) - press it a dozen times or so then back and see if photo shows. 2. If your file ZIPped is a reasonable size then e-mail to me with a note and I'll manually repair it. I need to fix this next release. Ira ------------------------------------------------ Mr. Ira J. 1. [CFTW] Version 3.07: Media attachments (again)
    2. The program seems to assume that all media is in a single folder. I have all my photographs in a folder called c:\archives with <lots> of subfolders upon subfolders to delineate families, locations, etc. When I want to attach a photo to a person and click "GET MEDIA" and navigate to the correct location, it asks to copy this image into the "database Image Directory" I don't want duplicate copies of these images anywhere else on my hard drive: will it be possible to attach a photo (media) to an individual by sub-folder? 3. In my Descendant list (style2) report (ver3.06) selecting special, my reports show both birth and death dates in brackets with marriage date outside the brackets. Looks fine to me, although while on this report, I personally prefer solid lines rather than broken lines, like those shown on the Descendant tab in the main window. I have also received similar reports from PAF users, and these do look very smart. Is there a reason for this difference? The difference is that PAF evidently has it programmed as "graphical" lines - while I had simply used the vertical line which is actually a character - you can see this on most keyboards between the backspace key and enter key. 3. Well, troops, at the risk of being non-conformist, I studied that format quizzically when I first saw it, then decided that it was a logical representation of the parenthetical offering of birth/death date and then progressing to reading of the un-enclosed "married ddmmmyyyy" which segues very nicely to the name of the person married to on the next line. Really, I'm not an agitator. Regards to all, Floyd [SNIP] > Subject: RE: [CFTW] Re:Decendant list [style2] > > > Yes, that's exactly what I am getting too. > (bd - dd ) marriage date [SNIP]

    3. Try a bit of lateral thinking. If the part of the file you want to keep is at the end, press Ctrl+End to jump to the end of the file. Scroll UP, it's a shorter route than scrolling down. Place the cursor before the first record you want to keep. Press Ctrl+Shft+Home, this will highlight all text between the cursor and the start of the file. Press Ctrl+X to Cut the highlighted text.
