Rosemary, Thanks for the information - now I am more confused than ever! I have a James William O'Brien from Placerville born 1853, whose father immigrated from Ireland He supposedly lived in Marysville sometime during his life, but I don't know when or how long, nor do I know his father's name. In addition, I have another, seemingly unrelated James O'Brien who should be a generation older that practiced medicine in Butte County, and was from Iowa. So one of these names you gave me could be related or one of the O'Brien's I was looking for.... On another note, are you familiar with where I can look at other voter registrations for California - for example are some on line? Thanks for your help, always appreciate the information!
