Hi Camilla et. al., Gideon Woodward is also my great great grandfather. I just returned from researching him and my Woodward ancestors in the San Francisco Bay area. Gideon and his wife Bridget Dufficy are buried in the Woodward plot in St Mary's Cemetary in Oakland. Also buried their are their daughter Sarah (Woodward) O'Brien, my Father's Grandmother, Michael Woodward,a son, James W. O'Brien, Sarah's husband, and Alice O'Brien, one of Sarah's sisters. Gideon was born in Hartland, VT in 1820, attended Dartmouth in medical studies but didn't graduate. He ultimately obtained his medical degree in Louisiana and practiced there for a year, then went to CA by way of Panama but apparently never practiced medicine again. His obituary and death certificate identify his profession as "Capitalist". His heritage traces to early colonial America and his grandfather fought in the revolutionary war.
