"Hi, I found this information about Bell Valley in the "History of Yuba County" by Thompson that might help: BELL VALLEY This little valley lies on the line between Parks Bar and Foster Bar Township, where the Rice's Crossing road passes. It was named after Tom Bell, the noted highwayman, who used the valley as a retreat for stock and other booty. It was settled in 1854 by Arthur & Howard, at which time a trail led through the valley to Rice's Crossing. The road was made in 1859, and that year James Wood purchased the place and converted the house into a hotel. The valley now belongs to Peter Yore." "When I look on my California atlas, I can see that Rice's Crossing is on theYuba/Sierra County lines between the small towns of Bridgeport and French Coral. I don't see anything listed for a Bell Valley and can't spot it on the map. I don't believe that Park's Bar or Foster Bar exist any more. Sorry I couldn't help more." Thanks to all others who also replied. Denise
