He was a native of England and 61 years of age. He resided in this city a number of years and was a painter by trade. Of recent years he earned a subsistence by cleaning up around saloons. Tom was an old war veteran having been attached to the 114th Regiment of New York Volunteers. His funeral will take place under the auspices of Corinth Post, No. 80, G.A.R., but the date has not yet been fixed. **** Marysville Daily Appeal - 5 Feb 1895 FUNERAL OF TOM BROWN The funeral of Tom Brown who formerly belonged to the 114th New York Volunteers, took place on Sunday afternoon under the auspices of Corinth Post, No. 80, G.A.R. About 30 of the Post and a few Mexican Veterans were in the cortege. The Grand Army Services were read at the grave in the City Cemetery by Commander Allen Cooley and Chaplain W.W. Russell and the religious services by Rev. J.W. Luady acting pastor of the Presbyterian Church. The internment took place in the circle reserved for old soldiers and a volley was fired over the grave. The following members of Corinth Post acted as pall-bearers: John P. Swift, Ed Hollen, George VanBuskirk, Theodore Repholts, John Bowers, John Eire.
