Born in Springfield, Ohio, he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 10 years. He worked for the San Francisco Chronicle in distribution for 25 years. A 1950 graduate of Springfield High School, he served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Fay Smith of Marysville; two sons, Raymond Smith of Huntington Beach and Steven Smith of South Vienna, Ohio; two daughters, Lori Duffy of Danville and Lisa Smith of Apopka, Fla.; two sisters; a brother; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services: A memorial service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. today at Loma Rica Community Church, 11234 Loma Rica Road. Arrangements are under the direction of Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst.
