Try familychronicle.com/dating. They have some good articles on dating photos. The photograph is of a man in a suit, holding what I think is a Bowler hat and sporting a moustache but no beard. I think the style of his tie is the cravat. He is standing by a pillar with an arrangment of flowers in a vase on top of the pillar; together the vase and pillar are almost as tall as the man. Below the photograph the word "Nesemann" appears above the phrase "Woods Gallery," and in the lower right corner the words "Odd Fellows Building" appear above "Marysville, Cal." I realize that one would probably need to see the picture to date it, but do any of the details mentioned above suggest a way of dating it? I am guessing that it may have been taken just after the Civil War.
