I didn't have her maiden name before. I have them on the 1870 Yuba Co. census in Linda Twp, Marysville P. O., 35/31 with children. Andrew was born MO, age. 33 yrs and Hannah was born Switzerland, age 32 yrs. Would you check you 1860 census CD for them and relay info? Andrew W. Howser's mother, Sallie P. Wyatt, was also in Yuba Co. on 1870 census, Linda Twp. 59/52 born KY, age 70. Would you check 1860 for her, too. I have read 1850 & 1870, but I couldn't get the 1860 film. Thank you. >>

"Taps" have sounded for Allen Cooley for forty-nine years a resident of Marysville, Civil War Veteran and a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. Death came last night at 9p.m. after a short illness. He was 73 years of age Allen Cooley was born December 21, 1845 at South Deerfield, Massachusetts and came to California in 1870. He became a partner in the firm of Cooley and Cody, hardware merchants which afterwards became White, Cooley, and Cutts. Mr. Cooley was a veteran of the Civil War and has always taken much interest in the Corinth Post, No. 80 having served as commander and was adjutant at the time of his death. He was also a member of Corinthian Lodge, No. 9 F. & A.M. He is survived by his widow, Mary A. Cooley, one daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Rose of Sacramento, two sons Belcher and William B. Cooley, the latter now in France and by one brother George S. Cooley. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, conducted by Reverend Mark Rifenbark, assisted by the Masons. Friends are invited to attend the service. After cremation, the remains will be interred in the Marysville City Cemetery. Additional Notes: Allen Cooley served in the 3rd Mass Cav. Co. E, as a bugler. I have much more information on this family to share.

BLUETT John Wesley Bluett died at his home in this city No. 117 Third St. yesterday morning after a long illness resulting from a fall from a motor cylce some months ago. Deceased was born in Nevada City and had reached the age of 49y 9m and 2d. Besides his widow, he leaves two brothers, J.E. Bluett, a stationer of this city, and W.H. Bluett of Nevada City, and a sister, Mrs. Durbin of Nevada City. Deceased was a veteran of the Spanish-American War; having enlisted in 1898 in Co. D. of the 8th California Regiment. The funeral will be held Sunday. Internment will be made in the G.A.R. plot in the city cemetery and a squad of his old company will fire one last salute over his grave. Undertaker R.E. Bevan has charge of the funeral arrangements.

He had a brother Henry Baker, who resides at Hudson New York. Undertaker Kelly has taken charge of the remains. Marysville Daily Appeal, 8 Aug 1903 The funeral of Comrade William Baker the old soldier who died at the county hospital on Thursday night will take place at 9 o'clock tomorrow (Sunday) morning from Undertaker J.E. Kelly's Parlors. He was at one time a member of Corinth Post, and will be buried with military honors in the G.A.R. plot. Marysville Daily Appeal OLD SOLDIER LAID AWAY The funeral of Comrade William Baker took place at 9 o'clock Sunday morning. The services were held at Undertaker J.K. Kelly's Parlors and were read by Acting Commander Allen Cooley and Chaplain John P Swift of Corinth Post. The internment took place in the G.A.R. plot at the City Cemetery where services were concluded. The following old soldiers acted as pall-bearers: James VanBuskirk, C.W. I did check a 1860 Census Index for Yuba Co., but I don't know if just an index for the head of households or for each person. Sallie P. Howser is listed in this index for 1860 Yuba Co. census as being in Bear River Twp, p. 1003. I am curious if she was head of house and some of her children were listed with her. I am also curious if her mother-in-law, Frances Wyatt, b. VA was in her household. Thank you.

Following taken from Histoy of Yuba Co. 1924 C. F. Davis---- A Prominent rancher and fruit-grower of Yuba County, C. F. Davis has long been engaged in development work, both in the Eastern States and in California, and his success can be attributed to persevering energy and far sighted methods of agriculture and horticulture. Born near Haddam, Washington County Kansas on February 23 1873, he is the eldest of five children surviving their parents. W.H. Davis and Sarah E (Brown) Davis, natives of Iowa and Kansas, respectively. C. F. Davis was reared on a farm in Kansas, and there learned the rudiments of soil cultivation. He left home at the age of twenty, and in 1893 was married to Miss Iona Gregory. She was born in De Kalb County. Mo., and was the second child of the late James .M and Amanda (Hudgins) Gregory, both natives of that State, who settled in California in 1895. In 1896 C.F. Davis homesteaded in Custer County Okla. For twenty-five years he has been an extensive farmer, at present still owns 320 acres of land. In 1896 and 1897 he spent a year in Yolo County, California. In 1917 he brought his family to California locating in Yuba County. Since then he has made three trips back to Oklahoma to attend to his interests there. At the same time, he has been carrying on much development work in Yuba County, neat Marysville, his sons being associated with him in the work of clearing, leveling and planting bottom lands: they are at present engaged in developing orchards, having recently set out over sixty acres to peach trees and fifteen acres to cherries and prunes, which have shown the phenomenal growth characteristic of this section of the Golden State. Both Mr. Davis and his sons cultivate the land with the true understanding of its real possibilities, and at the same time enrich the soil for future generations. Nine children blessed the union of Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Lloyd L is associated with his father: he married Grace Hampton, and has two children. Dorothy and Evelyn June. Roy E. is a rancher: he married Mary Sliger, and is the father of one daughter Sybil. Arthur M. is also a rancher: He married Marie Shingle, and have one son Calvin. Edith E. is the wife Harvey Lolmaugh and the mother of one daughter, Marie. Gladys M. Married Carl Hart. Fern married Warren Shingle, and has one son, Louis. The others are Edna, Everett H. and Owen R.
