I am so excited that someone else is looking for Fosters Bar. It is under Bullards Bar Lake. It was on the north fork of the Yuba River near the present town of Camptonville, actually, it was across the river. I will look up the coordinates for you. Rosemary
Hello, I am new to this list. Recently I found Ruben REED age 57 and his son Andrew J. REED on the 1880 census living at Fosters Bar, Yuba Co.,CA. I cannot find Fosters Bar listed in my atlas. Could someone please tell me if it still exists, or what town it was near when it did? Is anyone else researching the REED family in Yuba Co.? Barb

Also have been told that he owned land in the same area, which his daughter inherited upon his death & the she sold at some point to US Fed Govt.....is now Beale Air Force Base. Would love to receive confirmation of any of this and/or anything else that will help my search into this rather illusive character in my past. Thanks!

In the first months of WW II, my father who was in the Army, was temporarily assigned to Camp Beale, now Beale Air Force Base. I was just an infant, so don't remember it, but have heard so many stories of how my father and several Army friends rented an entire tourist cabin area on a lake somewhere near Camp Beale. The only clue I have as to what the area was called are two pictures taken around that time of a white clapboard building with a sign on the roof..."Roebuck Lake Club". I suspect it is the clubhouse connected with the lake side tourist cabin area. Is anyone out there aware of the place I am inquiring about? I would so love to know more about it. Thanks...Pat Curliss-Leiker [email protected]

They are both buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma south of San Francisco. Based on their dates of birth, I assume that both Bridget & Ann Reilly (their mothers) would have been born in the 1820's, but so far I haven't been able to verify any of that. I will do some digging on William Reilly and if I ever find any tie & will let you know. Kathy

Unfortunately I do no know much about William Reilly. I am researching the Early family and it just so happens that Elizabeth Early married William Reilly. The only information that I have about him is that he was born circa 1852 in Ireland. He became a naturalized citizen in 1879 and died in 1909. It is very likely that he arrived in the U.S. with siblings. What era is your Bridget from. If I locate any information at a later date, I will look for Bridget O'Connor as well. Incidentally, maybe by co-incidence, I also have an Elizabeth Sullivan in my tree. She would have been Elizabeth Early's cousin. I do not know anything about her except her name. Sorry I cannot help you. Good luck in your research. Margene

I am researching William and Catherine O'Connor of Smartsville. William O'Connor's mother was Bridget Reilly. Catherine Sullivan O'Connor's mother was Ann Reilly. The naming similarities interest me. Also, an Elizabeth Sullivan was one of the witnesses to Wm & Catherine's marriage in San Francisco. Do you know where Wm Reilly was born? I have a lot of inofrmation, but have yet to trace the county in Ireland from which these two came. My grandmother, Mary was their first child. Kathy

Looking for a Lucy Anne BAKER, widowed, and daughters Emma and Louise (Loulie) and son Robert, lived in Marysville in 1860. Does someone have access to a city directory dated prior to 1880? Can someone look up Lucy's obituary in the local newspaper (Sep 1900)? Lucy and Emma later resided and died in San Francisco. Lucy ran a boarding house and Emma was thought to be a dance instructor at one time. Thanks for any assistance. JimSchmitz [email protected]
You didn't give a time period but the only Reilly in the 1880 Voter Registration is William, age 28, Native of Ireland. Occupation; miner. Local Township; Rose Bar, Naturalized June 30, 1879 in Yuba County District court. Date of registration; June 30, 1880. Hope this helps. Rosemary

He was born in Rough & Ready, CA, Dec 16 1907. Died in Marysville, Yuba Co, CA, Dec 15 1986. He died under the name of William Francis Silva. With his portrait there are numerous photo's of China during some type of what might be called a "police action". There are Chinese soldiers, British soldiers, Scotch soldiers as well the 3rd Battalion of US Marines. All photos are labled in Wm's handwriting, I believe. > > If anyone could put intouch with family members, I would give them the photos. Thanks, ................ About how old is the woman in the picture? My gggg-grandfather was Richard Henry McDaniel. I don't know how long his wife lived, but if she was still alive in 1878 she would have been about 84 years old.
