John, Have I researched for you before? I know I have looked up these names before. I found a possible person of interest in the early deaths and burials: Hazelbush, W.J.E.A.- male, white, single, age 42, b. Germany, died 3 Jan 1893 I found no one of either surname in the 1850 Yuba Census. In the Delayed birth records I found: Haselbusch, Leta Sophia b. 12 July 1904 5 miles east of Biggs Married name Losinger? father- Henry William, b. CA mother- Ida E. Johnson, b. CA Newspaper vitals: Weekly Butte Record 10 Nov 1883 Marriages Sivil- Steincamp- At the Union Hotel, Oroville, Oct 31 1883 by W.Y. Bliss, J.P., James Sivil and Miss Mary Steincamp, both of Moore's Station. (Note: Moore's Station was an earlier name of Honcut.) Voter records 1884-1890 Haselbusch: Johann Wilheim Ernest August, 33 in 1884, b. Germany Farmer in Biggs Naturalized 21 Aug 1873 Butte County, CA Johan Heinrich Edward , 34 in 1886, b. Germany, farmer in Biggs Naturalized 7 July 1875 In Butte County, CA Steinkamp: John Peter, 54 in 1884, b. Germany, Hotelkeeper in Honcut Naturalized 16 April 1868 in Yuba County, CA John Peter, 26 in 1884, b. CA Laborer in Honcut. I am going to assume you have the information on John P. and Magdalena Steinkamp's burials in Honcut unless you tell me otherwise. It appears Mary Steimkamp Sivils and her husband are buried there as well. Do you want that info.? In 'old' Oroville Cemetery I found eleven Haselbusch. Two are John's, but don't match your years given. One has a notation Native of Neuland, Hanover, Germany. Let me know if you want these burial records. Hi Group! I am a Butte County look up volunteer. I do have some information that may be helpful to those of you searching Yuba County. I have the 1850 Census for Yuba County. I have Strawberry Valley Cemetery records; it's my understanding it changed from Yuba County to Butte, or visa versa. I also have records for cemeteries near the Butte/Yuba line. I also have a biography that lists some citizens of Yuba County. I'm happy to try to answer questions. Donna

Usually such items are mentioned within a week or so following the event in the "vitals" column. A complete search of the online Yuba County marrriage records at www.cagenweb/yuba/vitals has failed to show a record of this marriage. Perhaps the record was not recorded. As an alternative resource, we are hoping it was mentioned in the local newspaper and we will gladly make a donation to the Friends of Yuba County Library and pay costs for a lookup. Thanks! Carla

Greetings: I have posted a new endangered cemetery report to the California Saving Graves website for the Planters House Cemetery in Shingle Springs, El Dorado County. You may view the report at: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ca/state/Planters_House_Cemetery_Report.htm A construction application is being processed for the parcel adjacent to this little cemetery. The applicant's plan shows the applicant's property line taking in one of the family plots of the cemetery that was excepted in a 1929 deed and does NOT belong to the applicant. The 1929 deed also provided for an easement to and from the cemetery and the applicant's plan makes no provision for that access. I would like to ask you to email Supervisor Charlie Paine to ask him to help ensure this application is not approved without providing for an accurate depiction of the applicant's property in relation to the cemetery and to ensure that access remains available. There is a sample email text listed below for your use. I hope you will agree that we need to protect our historic cemeteries and access to them and will email Supervisor Paine accordingly. Thank you, Sue Silver, State Coordinator California Saving Graves *********************************************** Sample Email and Letter Text to bosfour@co.el-dorado.ca.us: Subject: Planters House Cemetery, Shingle Springs (DR04-0010-Williams) Honorable Charlie Paine District 4 Supervisor El Dorado County 330 Fair Lane Placerville, CA 95667 Dear Supervisor Paine: I have learned that there have been problems in the past with construction near this historic cemetery in your county and that a new application for construction near the cemetery has been submitted. I believe that historic cemeteries should be respected and protected as historical and cultural resources of our state's past. Please protect the cemetery and access to it so that future Californians may pay their respects to the California pioneers buried there. Please help ensure that the present project application is processed in a manner that helps to ensure the preservation and protection of this early cemetery. Sincerely, [Your name, address and email address.]

Hello, Can anyone tell me if there was a County Hospital in your county and, if so, if there was a cemetery with it? Is the cemetery still intact or has it been relocated? Greetings: The Fickert Ranch Cemetery is about to be sold out of the control of the Fickert family descendants. For more information, please go to this link: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ca/state/Fickert_Ranch_Cemetery_Kern.htm The Bear Valley Community Services District will vote on the sale of this cemetery on August 14, 2004. If you agree that the property the cemetery is on should be left undeveloped to preserve the cemetery and promote the history of this area, please contact the district at the addresses given on the website. You may email them at: randij@bvcsd.com If you would like to cut and paste the following, please feel free to do so. I would appreciate if you would copy me at ssilver1951@jps.net and danarmstro@aol.com . Robert T. Sheppard, Jr., President Bear Valley CSD 28999 South Lower Valley Rd. Please preserve this last remnant of the Fickert family and the ranch they built in your county's earliest history. Greetings: Recent news has been noted regarding the El Monte Cemetery, also known as the Savannah Pioneer Cemetery and Savannah Memorial Park, in the City of Rosemead, Los Angeles County. The El Monte Cemetery Association is apparently experiencing financial difficulty and is contemplating selling the cemetery to developers. If this were to occur, it has been stated that the 3,000 graves in the cemetery will have to be disinterred and relocated elsewhere. If you have family ancestors or loved ones who were interred in this cemetery, you are encouraged to contact the El Monte Cemetery Association. I have posted a page covering what I've learned about the present situation and other information I have found about the cemetery at the following link: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ca/state/El_Monte_Cemetery_Rpt.htm If you have any questions about the information on the webpage, please contact me off list.
