I believe the fire was prior to June 1905, and think it happened after Jan 1900. If anyone has any information or can refer me to a history book or web site that has this information I would very much appreciate it. Thank you. Sandra

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QY.2ADE/1071.2 Message Board Post: Kent, Bowling Green was near the town of Rough and Ready, which became a part of Nevada County. It is not that far over the Yuba County line. Rough and Ready still exists, but I can find no record as of yet that Bowling Green survived after the Gold Rush. Perhaps Bowling Green became absorbed by Rough and Ready in later years? In Erwin G. Gudde's "California Gold Camps" it only mentions it's location and the 1850 census. Nothing further was cited. Hope this helps, Kathy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QY.2ADE/1071.1 Message Board Post: Kent, There was before and for the 1850 census. Yuba was an original county very large in size. In April 1851 Nevada and Placer Counties were formed from Yuba. In April 1852 Sierra County was also formed from Yuba. Most of the townships were renamed when the new counties were formed. You would have to look at an 1850 census map to see were Bowling green was and where the area ended up after the divisions. Did your ancestor stayed in California to the 1860 census and after? There were only 126 people in Bowling Green Twsp in the 1850 census. Denise Simmons

    1. Samuel Darling born NY
    2. I just found a man in 1850 Yuba County who might be my Darling. After all, you folks were close the gold rush, right? This 1850 Samuel Darling was born in NY, a trader, and just the right age to be mine, born 1815. He sure isn't in NY and he died 1854 in NY. Are there any lists of trader folks in Yuba County in 1850? Thanks, Candi in California

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QY.2ADE/238.373.2 Message Board Post: easter hensley is my grandmother. easter m. j.w. hensley. bonnie is my mothers sister. I have been looking for a very long time. I have thousands of hours in research. I have recently found our easter wilson, whos birth date is wrong as is j.w. hensleys. i have irrefutable proof. Easter was b. 1882-1883. depending when the census was taken and who was the info. giver and how swift the census taker was, remember, in those days educated people werent the norm. The 1890 ark. census has them living with their eldest sister, mary, her husband, william qualls, her dau. pearl. with her was, easter, age 17, tom b.1885, andrew, b. 1886, ida, b. 1891 or 1894. I have hundreds of pages of research and hensleys going back to the late 16 th, century. Easter remains a mystery. I know that mary, andrew and tom, moved to yuba ca., but don't know just when. I heard that ida got into a boat with a man in ar. and was never see or heard from again. Aunt may jean says that when she was very young she left ok. and went to yuba ca. and stayed with AUNT MARY. (may jean was b! . ab. 1927). I assume that it was mary, but she would have been in her ninetys at that time. may jean has a memory prob. she could have meant maybe a cousin, one of tom or andrews daus. as far as i have been able to prove were the only 4 kids. It is possible that there could have been other older kids, but no proof or reason to believe it, since i cant find their parents. I talk to carline regularly, but she dont know anything much. I would like very much to talk to you. please contact me at cvaught@ipa.net I dont want to put my ph. # on the web. I live in vian ok. thank you for your time. Hope to hear from you soon. cordially, Greta
