    3. Linda, Assuming that you're referring to Yuba County, the Court and Clerk offices are only about a mile apart. Offices for the County Clerk at the base of the 10th street bridge (in an older renovated department store, 915 8th Street, Suite 107, Marysville; 95901 (530) 749-7851. They have lookup computers, as well as some the original indexes for public inspection. Also, in the same building they have the county Tax Assessor; their public walk-up computer requires either a physical address or parcel number. Again, both are for the entire (and it's a really big!) county. For court records, the County Courtroom is at 215 5th Street, again Marysville; (530) 749-7600. The County library has much material available (including microfilm of the local newspaper to the late 1800s, as well as a research room with older local material. Address: 303 2nd Street, Marysville; (530) 749-7380 Enjoy your visit! steve PS: What state/county do you live in? -----Original Message----- From: cayuba-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:cayuba-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 1:16 PM To: CAYUBA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CAYUBA] Visiting Marysville This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: maryfox65 Surnames: Rose Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.yuba/326.332.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: www.terraserver.microsoft.com/ has topographical survey maps of the USA. On the home page type "Smartville" under City, and CA under State, and zoom in. Then move one step North. Rose's Bar is just North of Smartville at the bend in the Yuba River. There is also information about Smartville on the web. I found it by doing a search for "Rose's Bar, Yuba county, California" Rose Bar or Rose's Bar was named for John Rose of Scotland who established that town along with some other entrepreneurial things in California during the late 1840's. (I just happened to run across your query while researching for one of his descendants!) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Lee Works
    3. Hello all, I am new to this list. I have been researching my great great uncle Hiram Works. He shows up variously on the voter registrations as living in Slate Range Township, Long Bar Township, and Camptonville. I am pretty sure that he never married so there would not be any decendants or such. He wrote letters home to his sister regularly but no one in the family knows what became of him. I think he was with the Kennebec Company when it left Maine in 1849. I am looking for more information on this company and uncle Hiram if anyone has anything. Thanks Lee Works

    1. [CAYUBA] BIRTH OR BAPTISM RECORD LOOKUP-FRANK (LAST NAME)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: tex61 Surnames: FRANK, FRANCK, FRA??, HENRIQUES Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.california.counties.yuba/1490/mb.ashx Message Board Post: May 3rd, 2007 Thursday 10:00 p.m. I am looking at the counties surrounding Butte County in case the children were born outside of Butte County. Can somebody lookup birth & or baptism records for me please. I am looking for my grandmothers side of the family. The last name they were using on the 1880 Census for Oregon City in Butte County in CA was FRANK. On the 1st 10 or so pages of this census it says City Of Cherokee. My family is Portuguese so there is a possibility they are using the last name spelled FRANCK, FRANCISCO, FRANCISCA, FRANCA, MARTIN OR HENRIQUES. Or the last name spelling starting with FRA. HENRIQUES is the maiden name of the mother Mary. I was told that Portuguese people usually didn't use there birth names when they came to the U.S., that is why I have given a few differant spellings. The mother & fathers names are Martin & Mary both born in Portugal or The Azores. Here are the childrens names. Frank, Mary Born CA (Most Likely instead of MA) 1875 Frank, Frank (Yes they named one of there children Frank Frank) Born 1877 Manuel Born 1879 or 1880 There are possibly 4 other children that were born after the 1880 census. Josephine, Alice Rena & May/Mae and Martin. My grandmother Alice Rena Frank (Franck) married my grandfather Gus Foster Rowe approx. 1908. I have been looking for my grandmothers side of the family for 14 months now with no luck. I am grasping at straws and loosing hope of ever finding them and would appreciate any help. You can email me at tex61@bellsouth.net THANK YOU VERY MUCH, KIM ROWE Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
