Good morning everyone, I have been asked, by several people on these "K-L-R" lists, to tell more about our Christian F. "KÖHLER". So, here it is: His gravestone gives us (22 Sept 1837-2 Jan 1906)... *but* His marriage record indicates that he was born 1830. And his naturalization paper indicates he was born 1830. (Note: He died before his wife.) He was the s/o Maria BRAND & Christian KÖHLER, according to his marriage record. The marriage record says he was b in Melzow, Uckermark, Prussia... *but* His widow's pension application says he was born in "Metz" Germany. And, his naturalization paper says that he was born in Saxony. On his 1856 naturalization paper, he renounced allegiance from the "Sace of Coburgh". His Civil War service was as a Pvt in A Company of the 10th US Infantry. He is listed in the 1890 Veterans' Census as Christian COLER. He m/ Christiane "Sophia" Dorothea NIEMANN / NEUMANN . Their marriage took place in Wolcottsville, Niagara County, NY in 1868. We have found that he was in several states before settling in Macon County, Missouri (where he and Sophia lived until their deaths). My sister-in-law has spent about 30 years gathering information on this man, her Ggrandfather. She has shared with me info about his descendants. We are more than willing to share this information with anyone related. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler - List Admin
