My computer has had problems that is why there has been no response. Anyway, my great-grandmother was Ruth Alice Magnolia Caylor, daughter of Thomas Caylor I believe, but not quite sure of mother. Ruth was born in Macon Co, possible Aquone, in 1871. In 1887 or 1888, she married my great-grandfather, Daniel Donaldson Moore, of North Carolina. I believe they eventually had 11 or 12 children, one being my grandmother, Bonnie Moore Williamson, now 93 years old and living a mile from me here in Arkansas. In 1913 or 1914, Daniel and Ruth moved to Arkansas. If you have any information please email me at the above. We are really stuck on any ancestors regarding the Caylor's - there are several variant spellings and names keep changing so I really want to nail this down. Thanks again, Debbie Holth

Let us all re-post our earliest K-L-R ancestors. Here is ours: The prodigenator of my husband's KOEHLER / KÖHLER family came to NY in about 1850. The records we have found of him say that he was born in Metz in Germanic Europe ca 1830-37. His name was Christian F. KOEHLER (as Americanized). He signed his surname as KÖHLER. Christian married Sopha NEWMANN (also b Germanic Europe) in Wolcottsville, Niagara County, NY ca 1868. We have found papers indicating his having been a soilder during our Civil War. He and Sopha later migrated to Macon County, MO where they are both buried. His stone has the dates (22 Sept 1837-3 Jan 1906) on it, but I have misgivings that the birthyear is correct. Any help in locating information about Christian's parents and/or siblings will be appreciated. We are always interested in contact with others who may be related, and we are quite willing to share the large amount of information we have gathered about Christian and Sopha's descendants. Good Morning, While perusing the June 2002 issue of "The Northeast Reporter" journal of the Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society, I ran across some information that might help someone here. So, I am sharing it with you. Page 51: From the "La Belle Star" of Lewis County, MO Friday, Oct. 23, 1896 Alex SMITH and William KOEHLER have purchased the restaurant and bakery business of John RICHMOND. Friday, Jan. 1, 1897 John MINOR and Mrs. Maggie FRENCH were married Wednesday at the home of the bride's father, W.M. KAYLOR. Hopefully these bits of information will help a researchers subscribed here. The people mentioned here are not known to be related to my husband. My husband's Ggrandfather was the family's KÖHLER immigrant. He emigrated from the Sace-Coburg area of Germanic Europe ca 1850. He states, on one of his papers, that he was born in Metz. There are several towns of that name in the Germanic Parts of Europe. He m/ in Wolcottsville, Niagara County, NY, fought for the Union in the War Between the States and settled in Macon County, MO... where he lived the bulk of his life. His 'Americanized' name was Christian F. Koehler. His gravestone says that he lived (22 Sept 1837-3 Jan 1906), but I have begun to seriously wonder about his birth year because of a family of immigrants, who came to Niagara County, NY during the right time-frame. The book, "Germans to America, 1850-1874" shows: Koehler, Anna Franz. I have been asked by Rootsweb people to warn you that the old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? Woolcottsville is located in the southeastern corner of Niagara Co. My map shows the town as sitting on the borders of Niagara, Genesee and Erie Counties. Hope this helps, Elizabeth
Thank you for all of the wonderful responses concerning the county of location for Buffalo, NY. I have looked at them, along with my copy of "Map Guide to the U.S. Federal Censuses 1790-1920". BTW, this book shows that Erie County use to be part of Niagara County. IMHO, if a ship's manifest listed a family's destination to be Buffalo, it would not be too far a stretch to feel that a member of that family might have married in Niagara County. However, does anyone know of a good URL that would show me the location (in Niagara County) of a town called Wolcottsville? Leslie
Happy New Year. Does anyone here happen to know if Buffalo, NY is in Niagara County? If it is, then I may have hit upon some really important information concerning our KÖHLER line! Leslie Kohler Ggranddaughter-in-law of Christian F. KÖHLER Christian F. KOEHLER
