Greetings; New to the list, as well as new to doing research in California. If anyone can give me a primer on doing research in Ventura Co, or CA in general it would be appreciated. The fella I am trying to track down info on is Stanley Porter Robertson, b. 17 Jun 1906 Gentry Co, MO d. 18 Feb 1971 Ventura Co. m. abt 1927 to Thelma Irene Pearman, div. abt 1942 Gentry Co, MO. m. Bonnie Pittsenbarger bef 1947 either MO or CA, they were div by 1948. May have had other spouses. Lived in Orange Co, and in Long Beach (was there at one time a Long Beach Co, eventually taken over by LA Co?) before settling in Ventura. The family wants to find out info on him between the end of WWII and his death. His first family stayed in Gentry Co, MO, and hardly ever heard from or about him. Stanley made his last appearance in Gentry Co in 1950. It was rumored that he changed his name, at least for a time, for the purposes of IRS evasion, but we have found a death record in his given name, not a death certificate as of yet. Any info, or ways to get info on Stanley would be greatly appreciated. Stanley's brother, Waldo Gillespie Robertson, lived in Orange Co until his death in 1956. We'd love to track down some of his folks as well. Their Father, Hardy B. Robertson lived in Orange Co off and on from 1907 until likely the 1930's, and worked on the infamous gambling boats off Long Beach during the '20's and '30's. Stanley may have done that as well when he lived out there. Many thanks, Bob Wilson, Kansas City, KS
