Scarlett, 89, formerly of Loveland, died Jan. 3, 2003, at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, Calif. He was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Aberdeen, S.D., to James F. and Stella Wise Scarlett. He graduated from high school in 1932 in Brookings, S.D. He married Dorothy Reif on Aug. 1, 1940, in Danville, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2000. >From 1940 to the present, Mr. Scarlett lived in Burlington, Iowa; Littleton; Sedona, Ariz.; Loveland for 10 years and Ventura. He was employed by the Railway Express Co. in Burlington and later worked in home construction. He eventually started his own successful construction company in Littleton. Mr. Scarlett is survived by a son, Neil and wife Anne of Newbury Park, Calif.; and two grandsons. A family celebration of Mr. Scarlett’s life is planned Jan. 19 at the home of his son, Neil Scarlett. Aabbey Memorial Service in Thousand Oaks, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
