Surnames: Ostrander, Green, Seeley, Miller, Tuttle, Wicks/Weeks, Lathrop Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CY.2ADI/327.2.1 Message Board Post: When I started family research last year I saw a bunch of posts from Robert Frederick Lathrop, but couldn't make any of the links work. If that's you, I hope we can help each other. You at least were looking for the same people I am. My grandmother was Cora Green Lathrop Ostrander, I believe b. 1856 in Poughkeepsie NY. I am told her first husband was Robert Lathrop. I don't have a birth date for him because he changes his age every record I can find. Those records are few. I found Robert and Cora in the 1880 Greenburgh NY census with 3 children. Those children were Emma, age 7; Charles, age 5 and Jessie, age 2M. I find Robert and Cora in Fairfield Co. CT in the late 1880s. My father was born in Northport Long Island in 1895 to Cora and to John Ostrander. His birth certificate says that Cora has 5 previous living children. My father claimed he never knew about any of these children until he was an adult and his mother long gone. He also claimed he grew up in and out of orphan! ages in Oregon. He eventually lived in foster care in Portland, OR. Cora apparently had two other children after my father. I have connected with one of their descendants, who gave me the Lathrop name along with information about that sister's life. I have information about Cora's family. I also have pieces of what happened to her at the end of her life. I would like to understand what happened to these two families. If this connects to you, I would love to exchange information.
