    1. [CAVentura] Fw: Folsom (California) Cemeteries
    2. Sue Silver
    3. I seem to have confused some people. Please read this... Lakeside Cemetery, aka Lakeside Memorial Lawn Cemetery, is located in Folsom, Sacramento County. I would like to hear from ANYONE who has family buried in this cemetery that were buried between 1850 and 1939. I especially would like to hear from people who CANNOT FIND THEIR FAMILY'S GRAVES ANYMORE. If you have "lost" a grave of someone buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Folsom, please contact me off list. This cemetery was also known as the Folsom City Cemetery, the Citizen's Cemetery, and the "City Cemetery." A part of the "Citizen's Cemetery" was also called the "COOK'S CEMETERY" and later the "AMERICAN LEGION CEMETERY." Contained within Lakeside is also the historic JEWISH CEMETERY (est. 1861), the original MASONIC CEMETERY (Est. 1862), the IOOF CEMETERY (Est. 1862) and the NEW MASONIC CEMETERY (Est. 1924). If any of this sounds familiar, and you have family buried in what once was the PUBLIC CEMETERY at Folsom and you haven't been able to find the graves, please contact me. Surnames: Todd, Badger Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CY.2ADI/273.1 Message Board Post: Hi Dann, I live in Santa Paula and knew Douglas Shively. He was a good friend of our family and a banker/local artist. His father was A. Lincoln Shively. I saw your message and remembered that I have a book that my mother bought me that was written by Doug and signed by him. It is called "Recollections of a county banker". I did look up Lincoln for you and it states that he was Doug's father and the president of Citizens State Bank of Santa Paula. ( a local bank that is now Santa Barbara Bank and Trust ) This is THE bank that saved most of the farmers here in the county during the depression and was still in operation until being taken over after Doug retired and then passed away. What a shame! Anyway, try a look up for the book and get it if you can as it is rich in information! I will look here in town for you to see if there are any copies surviving. I can send you the information but it will take some time as I have my hands full with my mother and her failing health. Hope this helps you! Melinda Markel-Bratcher (Todd-Badger line)

(Places where I lived as a little boy) I went to the Ventura County Recorders Office and could not get any help. I could not even get a straight answer from the employee working at the desk. Did my search, and found surnames starting with "Sw" were missing. I could not get anyone in the recorders office to help. I was told I had to figure it out on my own that the office was "understaffed". If anyone could help me I will pay for your time. Name of father: Walter Swenson Known Addresses: 316 West Center Street, 321 West Center Street, unknown street in Ventura, Bald street or avenue in Ojai, and unknown address in Miners Oaks.
