Check this out..... www.logcabins.net/countryfurniture.htm Pictures of: Candle Light Woodshop built by John Thomas Cave in 1868. "The Caves were a family of woodworkers in the late 1800s. In this shop, the Cave family built everything from beds to fiddles for the local community. As the family and the business grew, the addition on the right was added, sometime around 1880. A few years later Albert Cave and his father built a larger shop down the hill from this residence that has been converted into the local post office. My brother and I feel the atmosphere of the shop helps keep us connected to the family and woodworkers who once lived here. We have dedicated our shop to Albert Cave who was the longest living World War I veteran. He lived to be just three months shy of a century old. We enjoy his garden and his spirit, which is still very much alive.
That is SO interesting Jane. Now tell us where is Leon VA located. At first I thought this was a Texas CAVE, as the post office looks just like one I use to pass in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Cannot recall name of village there. I hope someone on the list is related to this Cave, and will give us some more about him & this family. Sue Ellen
Leon, VA is near Culpeper, VA. Albert Sidney Cave was born in Madison Co., Va - June 27, 1894 and died Jan 6, 1994 at the Culpeper Health Care Center. He was the son of John Thomas and Fannie (Armentrout) Cave. He married Ethel Aylor. They had two sons Edgar Vernon and Herman. I'm sure there is a connection to our other Madison/Page Cave families, but haven't found it, yet. Julia
