Just thought I would send additional information as to why I am looking for information on the Caves. I'm the President of the Friends of Historic Lone Jack and we are in the process of trying to save the western portion of the Lone Jack battlefield, which includes, what we believe to be, a portion of the original Cave Hotel. The remaining portion of the battlefield is in grave danger of being lost to commercialization. We've already lost the eastern portion - it is now a subdivision. Lone Jack battlefield is a Priority II on the National Park Services list of endangered battlefields. http://www2.cr.nps.gov/abpp/priority.htm We hope to verify that the building in question is indeed a part of the original structure with an archeological survey and to then restore it. I am trying to locate direct descendants of Bart and Lucinda with the hopes that they may have information that will help with the restoration or reconstruction of the Cave Hotel.
