Ed, I think 1790 is perfect.. We just need a site everyone can access. Then we can start...the earliest record I know of so far off the top of my head is a mention of a David Cave I think in the 1670's or 80's in Virginia...but I'm sure there are many pieces of this puzzle and hopefully we can all share them .....
