    1. [CAVE] late 1700's/John Cave, son Thomas
    2. Hello again... Was out and about again today... So am sending this new information. I got lucky, and found a very early marriage license, dated December 31, 1833 for a Thomas Cave, son of a John Cave. The marriage license/certificate is of Thomas Cave who married an Elizabeth Cave. Now, it lists John Cave as the father of Thomas Cave, but unfortunately doesn't list the parents of this Elizabeth Cave. The note states that this Elizabeth Cave is over 18 years of age, being attested to by John Cave and his son Thomas Cave. The marriage then took place on January 1, 1834 and they were married by John Logan. The marriage certificate number is #191, and one of the earliest marriage documents I have seen with any family information on it. I found this in the Rushville, Illinois County Clerk's Office. It was the "only" Cave/Caves that I found while there. Now, lets swing on down to the Court House at Havanna Illinois. I found the following Cave/Caves marriages. Alice Cave married Walker C. Cruse April 2, 1882 Cyrus N. Cave married Amanda U. Hurst on Dececember 24, 1885 James A. Cave married Jane Hindman on February 9, 1872 Mahala Cave married Addison Babcock on March 11, 1869 Richard Cave married Elizabeth Barton on January 2, 1860 (no parental info on document). Benjamin H. Cave married Anna E. Furrer July 6, 1915 >>>>>>Note that "H" Walter E. Cave married Freda Schierbeck on June 10, 1910 Kate (Mrs.) Caves married Dan Hanley July 26, 1914 In some of the material I noticed references to Kansas as places of birth in a couple of them. But by then, well, I left my notebook at the Rushville Court House... so I didn't write it all down. I have to go back with a pocket of money to buy certificates, unless somebody has already researched them. I also found a William H. Cave marrying in 1943 but did not have time to look up certificate. I was and am interested because of that darn "H". The Clerk there said somebody had recently looked up some of these Cave/Caves and found one that moved to Cook County Illinois. Bert Cave, brother to my grandfather Martie W. Caves, resided in Havanna Illinois and preferred that area. "Was it because there were cousins in that area?"
