I went down to Bristol to see my mum, at the weekend, and she did tell me that also my grandfathers mother sarah cave (shearn) did remarry later on, and her new married name was wish, and she went on to live in Bouverie street, easton, bristol, uk and also there was another son called jack cave and he lived in pennywell road, bristol, 2 or 5 district, and also george's sister dont know her name, lived in bouverie street with her mother sarah cave(shearn) whether they were from the 2nd marriage I dont know.
Ann Cave, born 7 Jan 1788 Orange Co., VA married James H. Tucker [born 1786 at Mt Airy, Surry, NC]], 8 June 1810 Surry Co., NC. James H Tucker died 1843 Jackson Co., Missouri and some researchers list Ann as also dying 1843. The "Heritage of Surry Co., NC Vol. I" also contains this info. However, she is listed on the 1850 federal census of Cass County, Missouri as head of household, widow, living with her unmarried children Thomas, Martha, Branch and John. Ann Cave and James H. Tucker are my 4th great grandparents. 3 of her sons William [Buck], Daniel Woodson, and Branch came to Oregon in 1853. Are there any researchers out there of this family? Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EGI.2ACEB/36.1.1 Message Board Post: I'm wondering if this Sarah Cave b. 1833 was a daughter of Henry W. Cave b. abt 1800 and married Nancy Jane Bass on the 26 Feb 1826, Marengo County, Alabama. Henry is the only one of the older Cave men who was married long enough to have a daughter in this age bracket, and he does have the space of years between children to account for Sarah. Henry's family, also, ended up in Milam County, Texas. Another point of interest - quite by chance, I came across the following marriage record: John Crissip to Disdemonia Pickle 25 Dec 1818, Clarke County, Alabama I'm not sure who the Pickles were that you mentioned, but they could possibly be some of Desdemonde's children or their family who came to Alabama with their mother and moved on to Texas. I have not been able to find any further information on John Crissip and Disdemonia Pickle. I am an ancestor through John Cave's and Lucinda Causey's daughter Lucinda who married John Read/Reid. Hope this helps, Joyce R. Bradley

Does anyone have information about where he went from there? I think he went to McDonough Co., Illinois, eventually, and then on the Putnam Co., Missouri, but can't trace where he was between landing and Illinois. Any help would be appreciated.

Surnames: Cave, Gilmore, Causey Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EGI.2ACEB/441 Message Board Post: The Fayette Chronicle - Fri., 27 Feb 1880, Vol. XIV, No. 19 Fayette, Jefferson Co., MS "Murder in Clark County" A horrible and deplorable homicide occurred in Clark county near Shuburs [Shubuta], day before yesterday. The victim was a man by the name of Caves, quite a young man, but married and having a family and keeping house. He was entirely respectable and of excellent family, the nephew of Rev. M. Gilmore, a Methodist preacher stationed at Marion, we believe at this time. A widowed aunt whose maiden name was Gilmore, well stricken in years, had her home in his family. The way we hear it, she is, probably and always has been a woman of violent temper, subject fits of uncontrollable anger. On the day of the terrible and lamentable affair she appears to have fallen into a desperate fit of anger with Cave’s young wife and inflicting personal violence on her. The young man happened to be near enough to witness the difficulty and happened to the scene, presumable to stop it. His aunt turned upon him and plunged a knife to his heart. He lived about fifteen minutes. = = = = = NOTE: I think the murdered young man might be one of the sons of JAMES WATSON CAVE and MARY A. GILMORE ... James is the son of JOHN CAVE, JR. and LUCINDA (LUCY) CAUSEY
Michael, Sue Ellen is temporarily offline. I am watching the list for her. As administrator of a RootsWeb surname DNA list, I can tell you that if do start a DNA test and conversation arises on the Cave list about it, you can discuss results, give the webpage URL but no cost can be mentioned on list about it. Next time I talk to Sue Ellen I will see if she minds a conversation about DNA on the surname list. Some admins do not want any kind of DNA discussion at all on their surname list. I will get back with you on that... Hi Cousins We have been somewhat silent as of late, true to our Cave ancestry. But why don't we get together and start a y-dna project..as other groups have done? I see through Family Tree DNA that six people with Cave surnames have already done the simple painless testing. We could answer some of the "age old" questions on this list..are all of the Virginia Caves of the same family...what was their orgin..and even if they are descended from the well documented Caves on the Emerald Isle. Sue Ellen or someone..shouldn't we be doing this? michael wingfield walker
