Hi, I am interested in the family of Richard CAVE (1780-1863) and Nancy GRAVES. I have information that appears to fit into this family, yet conflicts with some of the information I've seen posted on the family. I'd like to discuss my findings with someone familiar with the family. Much of the information posted to the internet for this family seems to have been posted by researchers who have not personally researched the family. I'd like to contact a CAVE family researcher who has researched the Richard CAVE family, and has a personal interest in the family. If you have researched the Richard CAVE family, or know of someone who has, I'd appreciate your contacting me. Thank you, Mike Landwehr Waukee, Iowa

http://www.accessgenealogy.com/biography.htm An Illustrated History of Southern California San Bernadino Biographies - (input surname in search box) B. W. Cave, senior member of the firm of Cave & Reeves, proprietors of the Redlands livery stable, was born in Texas, in 1860, and has lived in San Bernardino County ever since he was two years of age. His parents, John P. and Lucy Ann (Barnett) Cave, were both natives of Kentucky. They had a family of eight children. His father first moved his family to Missouri, and in 1850 left them there and crossed the plains by ox team to California, where he remained two years, at the end of which time he went back to his family in Missouri. Here be remained three years, and then moved to Texas, where for seven years he worked at the carpenter trade. In 1862 he crossed the plains via the southern route to California, and was five months on the road. On his arrival he traded his wagon and ox team for twenty acres of land one mile east of San Bernardino. He lived on this land until 1868, and in the meantime gave considerable attention to placer mining. He was the discoverer of the claim known as Texas Point. In 1868 he traded for a part of the Carpenter ranch in Crofton, which he improved and still owns. The subject of this sketch engaged in mining for some three years, and two years ago went into the livery business. At this time he is part owner of the ranch purchased by his father, and is superintending the ranch as well as attending to the livery business. In 1882 he was married to Miss Bertie Barrett, of Missouri, and they have one child a son Oscar. Mr. Cave is a member of the I.O.O.F., Redlands Lodge, No. 341. At the time the city government was organized he was elected one of the trustees which office be still fills. He is an intelligent and enthusiastic supporter of the Democratic party.

However, for some reason, Heritage Quest did not index her. There is another Cave family in Linden that is indexed and listed in the Census. Just a page or two over is 43-43, Jane Cave, age 69, born North Carolina, and another woman, Nancy C. Cave, age 21, born in Tennessee. Her name is plainly printed there. I am almost positive that there is a connection to the Cave family that was in Stafford County, VA. For one thing, Thomas Cave Sr moved his family there shortly before his death. He and his son Thomas Cave Jr appear on the tax record of that county in 1787. The following year, his widow Jane Cave and Thomas Cave Jr are on the tax roll of Fauquier County, VA. By 1788, Jane Cave and Samuel Cave, a second son listed as tithable, are listed on the tax roll of Fauquier County, VA. Can anyone suggest how I might proceed? Do any land transactions or probate records in VA refer to an unidentified Thomas Cave?
>several Cave members buried at the Orenduff Cemetery,Collier Texas. >These were listed in the Gentleman's Magazine. Thanks, Judy, for the info on this Cave family. It's too bad the photo didn't have any names associated with it. I have a question - what is the reference to the Gentleman's Magazine? Jane

I was hoping that the Cave family was related to the Hale family, which is my father's family. They lived close to each other in LInden, Christian County, Missouri, in 1880. Thanks for your help. brian in springfield missouri

John Cave was son of William F Cave and Jeriah Davis. William F Cave was son son of Robert Cave sr. and Mary.
