I tghink Robert emigrated to Canada becasue his parents Richard (1856) and Mary Ann (1861) both died quite early. but the only information I have is him joining the army, and the year he died 1950. http://www.uhsalumni.com/uhsnews/obit.html Winston (Bill) L. CAVE , age 82, of Austin, died May 4, 2005. Winston was born on April 15, 1923, in Bishop, Texas, to Vernie Vista and Jessie Gautier Cave. Winston joined the U.S. Army in June 1943, deploying with the 100th Infantry Division, Company K., to France in October 1944. During the fighting in Eastern France he was wounded twice and was hospitalized in France and England for several months. He eventually returned to France and was stationed near Paris until returning home in January 1946. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his service in World War II. He reentered Texas A&I University in September 1946, where he met his future wife. After their marriage in August 1947, they were blessed with two sons and two daughters, all four of whom graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. A grandson joined the group in 2002. Orange blood truly runs in their family! Winston received his bachelor's degree from A&I and his master's degree from UT-Austin,but the "degree" he was probably most proud of was an Honorary Doctorate of Friendship which he received upon his retirement from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, where he spent the last twenty-four years of his work career. He taught and coached in schools in Ingleside, Uvalde, and Austin High and Johnston. Church life was always important to Winston. He was an ordained deacon, and served in many different capacities at University Baptist, Highland Park Baptist and First Baptist Austin. He loved greeting members and visitors, but his favorite jobs usually involved the church kitchen. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Diane Cave, as well as his brother, Vernie. Winston is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, two sons, one daughter, grandchildren and agreat-grandson. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Burial services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, at Austin Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Austin, 9th and Trinity. Hi, I'm researching the Olivia CAVE who married George LANGSTON in Boone County, Missouri in 1841. I'm currently looking at the family of a John CAVE, who was born in Kentucky about 1792, . Other CAVE researchers indicate that this John CAVE married Mary CAVE in Woodford County, Kentucky, in 1816, and that Mary CAVE was the daughter of Reuben CAVE and Catherine HAYDEN. Children of John and Mary CAVE included Henry CAVE, born in Missouri ca 1819, William CAVE, born in Missouri ca 1826, and Marcus CAVE, born in Missouri ca 1828. I have circumstantial evidence that suggests this John and Mary Cave MIGHT have been the parents of the Olivia CAVE who married George LANGSTON. Hi Mike and welcome to our list. I will see what I have on hand on this family. We just arrived in Kansas and still unpacking this week I think I have most of the CAVE data files handy. I know there is someone who was working on this line quite a few years ago. As Trevor said, Hugh Cave has a good archives on the CAVE clan but not sure if he has Richard and Nancy in his data base. Hugh in England and anything he gets from America is sent by volunteers and family researchers. For any of our list members its a good idea to see what is on Hugh Caves site.
