My SUSPICION is that the Cave line that tested in Virginia is the following person, since the Cave website states the earliest known ancestor wass a John Cave born 1745 in Virginia. Is this mana part of the Robert - Benjamin - John - mary Cave Echols group? Michael > > Hello, > I'm searching John Cave b.c. 1745 d. abt. 1812 South Carolina m. Sarah > Wilson Brown b. Michael this is GREAT news for all of us. If we can get even one CAVE family connected its progress. Hang in there Michael, I for one am still trying to find a male CAVE in my line to test for us. Since there are only a few of them, I am trying to contact them. Two are adopted so they are out, and working on three more who may be direct but I dont know them personally so asking is a bit strange thing for me to do. But I will... Still hope they can take my Daddy tooth and get some thing from it.... We need to do DNA testing so we can tell what CAVE families in England we connect to for sure. That is grand that you had the chance to travel over to Europe. YEA! Wish I was able to do that. Keep being the Cheerleader Michael! We need you! We need everyone on the list and message boards! I check back to only a few years ago and see what amazing progress we have made in a short time. Its so hard for some of you to understand it took YEARS to find anything before the Internet and computers, if your family was poor and left little documented paper trails. It took me over 15 years to find my family connection out of Ohio to Virginia. Today I think I could have done the connections in less than a week. It just was not easy then. I wrote to everyone and every place I could think of but I never got anywhere. It was so discouraging. All the leads led no where, the line was there but I didnt have the resources to find them. I still have the stacks of letters and notes from back then. Many tried to help, but turn around time was weeks for a letter back then. So to me and others who have been doing family research for years, we have more than tripled our research and connections in the short time span we have had computers. The amazing amount of information that is now available on line is a gold mine for all of us. The instant connections we can make today were unheard of only a short 10 years ago. So be patient and do keep cheering all of us on. To Everyone... Dont forget to repast some basic information from time to time, it helps others to know where we are in our quest and which family lines we are researching. I lost my Mother (age 95) this past month now I have no elder to ask questions of anymore in our family. Its so much harder, get those questions and answers NOW of your family elders. Even in her last years Mother was still keen on the past, her memory was sharp. I took many notes. There are still unanswered questions that come up each week. Sue Ellen Cave Ash list coordinator
>From the Cave Family History Society Website: I think this is the lineage of the English Cave that John Cave b. 1745 in Virginia matched: Brian Cave (452) Cave of Maidford, NTH Brian’s parents were Richard (1912) and Eileen C Brewer, then Henry George (1881) and Elizabeth Schofield of Maidford; Richard (1832) and Fanny Reeve; William (1797) and Susannah Hollaway; Richard (1775) and Ann Cooper of Thorpe Mandeville; Thomas (c1745) and Sarah Bartlett; Thomas (1714) and Elizabeth of Guilsborough; William (1685) and Joice; John (1661) and his first wife Elizabeth Seamark; John (1624) and Elizabeth Hide and so to Valentine (c1585) and Agnes. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Sometimes I feel like a lonely cheerleader trying to get some of the Caves on this list to do the dna genealogy test.... :) Ironically enough I was in London last week. Just coming back to the states and checking my email, I see that there has been a match between a "Virginia Cave" and an "English Cave." The Cave Family History Society reports that there is a 37/37 exact match between a descendant of a Valentine Cave born in Northamptonshire in the 1500's..and a descendant of a John Cave born in Virginia ca 1745. I don't know any more information about these lines, but it is a start. Michael Walker p.s. the family tree dna website has just been revamped and gives much more info. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Addressees: King. Nature of request: John de Cave requests four oaks suitable for timber in the park of Beverley in the diocese of York, which is vacant and in the King's hand, to repair his houses in South Cave, in return for his service in Scotland. Nature of endorsement: The King wishes him to have four oaks. -------------------------------------------------------- Date: 1322 Petitioners: Roger de CAVE Addressees: King and council Nature of request: Roger de Cave states that John de Ormeye came into the county of Buckinghamshire and attached him without him being indicted and without a warrant, and he is in prison there. He requests a remedy. Nature of endorsement: The reason for the arrest is to be ascertained, and if it is insufficient he is to be released. -------------------------------------------------------- Date: 1322 Petitioners: Richard de CAVE Addressees: King and council Nature of request: Richard de Cave requests that the king send a writ to Robert Destokes to hand over the land which he seized into the king's hand, as he was never against the king. He also requests that he send a writ to the sheriff of Buckinghamshire to enquire into the truth of his deeds and behaviour, and that he consider that the bishop of Ely, Lord de Somery and others have fully testified that he remained in the Isle of Ely during the uprising. Nature of endorsement: The king is to be informed of the cause etc. in chancery, and justice is to be done there. -------------------------------------------------------- Date: 1322 Petitioners: Richard de CAVE. Addressees: King and coun.il Nature of request: Richard de Cave states that while he was in the service of the bishop of Ely, protecting the Isle of Ely for the king, John le Keu and other unknown people came to the towns of Bedford, Beham and Sherington, and took and carried off his corn, livestock, and other goods and chattels to the value of a hundred marks and more. He requests a remedy, in consideration of his service in England, Scotland and elsewhere, and of the fact that he was never against the king's peace, but always was, and will be, ready to serve him. Nature of endorsement: He is to have recourse to common law. -------------------------------------------------------- Date: 1335 Petitioners: Geoffrey de CAVE, clerk. Addressees: King and council. Occupation: clerk Nature of request: Geoffrey de Cave, clerk, states that he was presented to the prebend of South Cave in York Minster by the King's grandfather, because of a vacancy in the archdiocese of York, and that he sued for that prebend, to maintain the King's right, until judgment was brought, again in the time of Edward I, but that, through bad counsel, the present King sent a writ to the justices of the Bench last Trinity term to cease execution of that judgment - to the great harm of the estate of the crown and of York Minster. He requests a writ to the justices to proceed with the execution. Nature of endorsement: As the King has ordered a writ to cease execution, he is not advised by the council to repeal this. --------------------------------------------------------

Gordon, We really appreciate your sharing of information on the Robert Cave family. I was all ears when there were mentioned some other surnames that are intermarried with the CAVE families of Page and Madison county. GRAVES, PRITCHETT are two I have seen in these counties. It could be nothing but it could be a connection to the CAVE families. Always good to share our findings with others. Sue Ellen
Gordon: Thanks for sharing your notes on Robert CAVE (d.1852) re: the Chancery cause in Greene County, Virginia. Jane
