    1. Re: [CAVE] Samuel Cave and Rachel Kellogg
    2. No mention of a son John in Samuel Cave's will. .? And it seems he mentions all children and even his siblings. Also this family seems to be in Massachusetts and not Virginia.? Finally since Samuel Cave was born 1603 I think he is too old to be the father of John and Mary in Virginia. Author: clintoncave Surnames: Cave, Boerum Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.cave/712/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for information on DeWitt Clinton Cave (my great grandfather) who was born in May of 1869 in NY to Archibald Cave and Magdeline Boerum. I can follow DeWitt to 1900 but then he disappears. According to the New York Times a DeWitt C Cave was part of an attempted jail break from the Newark (NJ) county Jail in 1902 where he was incarcerated on 4 counts of highway robbery. I am hoping that this is not my DeWitt, but circumstantial evidence says he is. Any info or suggestion as to where to go next would be greatly appreciated and if anyone is related to Archibald or Magdeline, please contact me! 2. Hugh Cave of the Cave Family History Society is reporting that Samuel Cave and Rachel Kellogg had a son John Cave who married 1st Andrews, 2nd Elizabeth Travers, and also a daughter Mary Cave who married John Echols. I'm pretty?sure this is incorrect.? John Cave and Mary Cave may very well have been siblings, its still?not clear, but?wasn't there some research disproving the Samuel Cave connection? 2. Hello! I haven't had the time to do the research, but any Cave male in Clay County, MO, generally, and Kearney, Clay County, MO, specifically, is likely to be a descendant of Uriel Cave who was a descendant of Old Benjamin of Orange County, VA. Darrell Cave (a grandson or great grandson of Uriel) of Kearney, if alive, would probably be interested in being tested for DNA. He or his wife would know who else might be available. If need be, I can add more specific info during the Xmas holiday. I am twice from Old Benjamin, through Uriel and is wife/second cousin Susan Rice. They were my great-great-grandparents. 3. http://books.google.com/books?id=UysLPplGXv0C&pg=RA1-PA94 The Gentleman's Magazine Obituary - Page 94 1817 Jan. ... In Portugal-street, Grosvenorsquare. Mrs. Isabella Cave, youngest and last surviving daughter of Sir Thomas Cave, bart. of Stanford Hall, co. Leicestar, who died in 1778; sister to Sir Thomas, who died in 1780; aunt to Sir Thomas Cave, who died in 1792, s. p.; and sister to the Rev. Sir Charles Cave, bart. who succeeded his nephew in the title, and died in 1810, the last male representative, in a direct line, of this antieut and respectable family, of which there are several collateral branches. The first mentioned Sir Thomas Cave was elected M. P. for the county of Leicester in four successive Parliaments; and was much esteemed for the general benevolence of his character, and for his intellectual endowments. Among other public acts of his life he was chairman of the Committee of the Gentlemen of Northamptonshire, who conducted Mr. Bridges's valuable History of that County through the press; and had himself largely collected, both by the purchase of MSS. and by his own visitations, for the County of Leicester; all which were liberally presented by the two last Baronets to Mr. Nichols, by whom they were incorporated with the amplo collections of Staveley, Carte, Peck, and Farmer, in his elaborate History of that County. 'The last named Sir Thomas was elected M. P. for Leicestershire in 1790; married Lady Lucy Sherard, daughter of Robert fourth Earl of Harborough (since remarried to the Hon. Philip Pusey); he dying without issue, the title devolved on his uncle Sir Charles; but the principal part of the estates of that antieut and respectable family passed, by the marriage of his only sister, to Henry Otway, esq.-Stanford Hall is a delightfully sequestered residence, situate on the confines of the two counties of Leicester and Northampton. ------------------------------------------------------------ Epitaph - Page 448 In Kensington Church "Sacred to the Memory of Isabella Cave, youngest Daughter of Sir Thomas Cave, Bart, of Stanford Hall, co.
