Surnames: CAVE, WEAKLEY, THOMAS, BERRY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EGI.2ACEB/195.1 Message Board Post: Do you have a record of a Lucy Berry b. about 1872. The reason why I ask this is because in the 1880 Page Co Census, Perry Cave has a cousin named Lucy Berry living with him. Also what year was your Mary Berry, daughter of Nancy born in? Here is my theory on Nancy Cave-Berry's family What we know- Nancy had a son named Newman Berry, and her parents were John and Elizabeth Cave Lucy Cave married William Weakley and had a son named Newman Weakley Simeon Cave, son of John & Elizabeth Cave, had a son named Newman (he also was the father of Perry I mentioned before) Now here I think is the connection Newman Cave b. about 1821 a blacksmith in Rockingham County. Lives in the area of McGaheysville The 1860 Census for Rockingham County is very interesting In the 1860 Census Newman Cave has an apprentice Newman Weakley living in his household. This Newman Weakley's age matches Lucy Cave-Weakley's son. Also later on some more of Lucy's children pass through this area or end up living there. Newman also has a 16 year old Mary Berry in his household. Here is what I think, though I admit it is a sort of strecher John Cave, Jr. married Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of Reuben. They had- Simeon, Newman, Lucy and Nancy. I think they might also had Allen Cave (a 22 year old Allen was living with a 29 year old Newman in the Rockingham Co 1850 Census) Reuben Thomas lived in the mountains of Page County probably around Tanner's Ridge, which is pretty near the old line dividing Rockingham and Shenandoah counties (when Page was not existing) his daughter married John Cave. I find it interesting that these Caves live near other members of the known John Cave family, like Simeon ends up living near Sally Cave-Price and husband Archibald (his aunt and uncle) or Nancy in the Marksville area or Lucy in Dark Hollow, and keep in mind all these areas are not far apart. Also, it is peculiar that all these children of a John Cave name one of their sons Newman. One thing I should say, I do not know who Newman's parents are, but Im guessing they are John & Elizabeth. I might also include James Cave in this family. Nobody really knows who his parents are, but they usually think he is in the Benjamin & Nancy Gallehugh Cave family. James had a son named Newman, and he ended up living near the Thomases and next door to Lucy Cave-Weakley.

    3. Hi folks, I've just joined the list, having discovered a wee bit more about my CAVE ancestry. My g-grandfather John Cave appears on the 1901 census as aged 34 born Leicester, Leicester, a boiler maker, living in Rotherham. At that point the 1901 census gave up on me, so I don't know much more! The likeliest looking entry in the 1881 census is John G Cave, aged 14, the son of Edmund and Louisa Cave. Can anyone add anything to my research of this family? Regards Richard Tetley -- Born in Sheffield, but currently in Nottingham UK. If I feel it is a real threat to our listers I will post a notice on the lists. This last one, even though a hoax virus, caused damage to computers by getting you to delete good files. Our lister quickly posted the restoration instructions, so if any of you got this on another list, I do have those instructions on hand. This time of the year there will be a lot of these; REAL and HOAX making the rounds. Be assured Rootsweb filters will not let them through the lists. You would get them only if you get a personal message from someone on the lists. Rootsweb has several Virus URL on the homepage for checking out the reality of the lastest Viruses.
