    3. Hello, Tom and all you other Spelunkers! Richard Cave and wife Elizabeth Craig are my ancestors. I can get their children for you but info is not at hand at the moment. Richard was a son of Benjamin Cave Sr and Hannah Bledsoe of Spotsylvania/Orange County. Elizabeth was a daughter of Toliver Craig Sr and Polly Hawkins Craig. Elizabeth's brothers were the "Preaching Craigs". Richard's brother was the William Sr who married Mary Mallory. William went to Boone county and was a founder of Bullitsburg Baptist Church and Richard was connected with Clear Creek Baptist Church in Woodford County. Both families went to Ky with the Traveling Church in 1781 and were at Bryan(t)'s Station in 1782. I would really like to know where Richard and Elizabeth were buried. Mary was buried in the hilltop cemetery at Gilbert's Creek 1782 and William probably lies in Boone County, but I do not have the exact location. Much is related in John Taylor's "History of Ten Churches" which can be bought in hardback reprint. I am from both William and Richard. Regards, Ed Troutman PS: John Taylor's wife was a granddaughter of Bejamin Cave Sr. Amazon has the reprint for 39.95. I've checked online, and was able to find the correct reel number, but have not found a location where one might be able to order a copy. Any ideas.... Thomas W. Rogers

    3. Hello, Spelunkers! I hope Tom is onto something about his branch. Be careful about the dates. If born in 1856 Jennie may been at the Follies in 1920, but probably not in the Follies. If she died in 1920, there should be a death certificate with patents names and birthplaces. 1. [CAVE] re: New Info/(Jennie E./Virginia Ellen Swisher, Cave, Cooper
    2. Hello Ok, for three years or more I have been in a nearly desperate search of my great grandmother's gravesite and praying for a photograph for my mom, now 83, who would very much like to know about the grandmother she never met. Today, I was given an excerpt from a unknown book, that had been given to a Ernest Eakins in 1990 by a Delores Fay Greeg Harboldt Evans of Melbourne Florida. Tommorrow, I may learn more about the book. But tonight, I want to tell you this new information. Jennie E. Swisher, born abt 1856, who married Merritt Henry Cave on October 16, 1877, may actually be, "get this" Virginia Ellen Swisher. Virginia Ellen Swisher married Merritt Henry Cave, and died on November 27, 1920. But she was known as "Jeannie". All the legal documents I have found had Jenny or Jennie on them, so this turned me for a flip at first. However, in the material is that this Jeannie was in the Zeigfield Follies in 1920. She managed some apartments, made beautiful paper flowers and loved to dance and have fun. She had sparkley devilish eyes. Was blinded by glaucoma and died of cancer. Her second husband's name was Joseph Cooper. (Remember, I found her daughter listing her mom's name as Jennie Cooper on her marriage license in 1908?). They had one daughter, Katie Ellen Edmundson-Bauer-Chrisman-Eggelstone born 5/17/1899 in Seymour Missouri. (Where the heck is Seymour Missouri? If that is where Jennie's daughter was born, they maybe that is where she is buried?; since I can't find her after three years of looking) Now, for those of you who have been aggressively helping me; Do you think that is a big enough curve ball in genealogy research? Well, if that isn't enough for ya!!!!! Maybe this is. On several documents, as previously stated, I have found this Jeannie Swisher as being born in Virginia, Missouri, Clayton Illinois, and now.... guess what, this information states she is born in.... County Cork Ireland... But her parents, Absolom S. Swisher and Sarah E. Spicer resided in Adams County Illinois near Kellerville, where they are now buried on the family farm in a Cemetery known as the Amen Cemetery. That said, as I am pulling my hair out of my head.... here. Oh, well, if nothing else, if she really was in the Zeigfield Follies in 1920, maybe there is in fact a photo of here somewhere out there afterall. Thomas W. Rogers

    3. I have just joined this list and I am also researching the Cave Family of Virginia. I believe that Elizabeth of Botetourt County is mother of my great-grandmother Emeline or Eveline Cave Hayes. Would you have any further information on these people? 3. I am sorry for the poor spelling in the last messages! My spell check is down, and I am tired tonight. Dont forget to visit the CAVE list archives and do searches on your CAVE family lines. It is a good way to see if postings at rootsweb lists connect. I too think that Virginia holds the key for many of us, here in America. But there could be other pockets of families that are connected. This would be a BIG help to bring the groups in contact with one another. Tomorrow should bring more postings about this CAVE suggestion. Lets see what tomorrow brings. Perhaps give a few days to see what ideas we get and then we can decide what to do. Sue Ellen (hoping I havent confused anyone)

    3. Oh I forgot to add, we have a lot of this already posted at CAVESCOVE. I dont know how much mre space Rick has there, but if we used Ancestry we could link to CAVESCOVE too. Sue Ellen

    3. Ancestry/Rootsweb CAVE boards are set up to post the major catagories already. It has recently been expanded to include the following. Bible, Births, Biographies, Census, Cemetery, Death, Deeds, Immigration, Lookups, Marriages, Military, Obituaries, Pensions, Wills, Queries. The advantage of posting there would be the search engines. All messages will go out to this list when it is posted at these boards. We could ask for a website to go along with it as the FOX family has. You might want to have a look at what they have done. It is because of them the list was expanded to the new catagories. The weboste there would be free. I am sorry I dont have the knowledge to build the website but if one of you does, we sure could have one. Sue Ellen Cave Ash list coordinator

    2. Ed, I think 1790 is perfect.. We just need a site everyone can access. Then we can start...the earliest record I know of so far off the top of my head is a mention of a David Cave I think in the 1670's or 80's in Virginia...but I'm sure there are many pieces of this puzzle and hopefully we can all share them ..... Michael (By the way MDWW65 is M(ichael) D(avid) W(ingfield) W(alker) born in that year, going back through the Wingfields, Holcombes, Marchbanks and Echols to John Echols who married Mary Cave.
