Orange County (IN) Obituaries CAVE, WILLARD Springs Valley Herald (July 7, 1927) Death Notice Funeral services for Willard Cave, who died at 7:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 1st, were held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Crystal. The Rev. Frank Nicholson, a life long friend of Mr. Cave had charge of the service and was assisted by Rev. C. O. Morin, of this place. Mr. Cave was 70 years old. He was born near Crystal and spent most of his life in that neighborhood, moving to French Lick about six years ago. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Cave is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Sol Simmons, one son, William Painter, two brothers, Lee Cave of Bedford, Will Cave of Kansas City, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Molly Meyers of Evansville, Indiana. -------------- ASHABEL WILLARD CAVE Springs Valley Herald (July 7, 1927) ASHABEL WILARD CAVE Obituary Ashabel Willard Cave, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Cave, was born near Crystal, Dubois County, Indiana march 4, 1857 and departed this earthly life July 1, 1927. He was married to Miss Louisa R. Cox, December 21, 1879. One child blessed this union, Miss Emma Cave, now Mrs. Sol Simmons. Mr. Cave leaves two brothers, Lee of Bedford, Indiana, Will of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Mrs. Molly Meyers of Evansville. Mr. and Mrs. Cave united with the Baptist church in Crystal and later Mr. Cave transferred to the Methodist Church where they spent an active and useful christian life, in the service of humanity and God. As the great heart of the master was touched by human need, so likewise, the tender and sympathetic heart of Mr. Cave was responsive toward the needy, having taken into his home and care William Painter, a thirteen month old baby, who sits today in the shadows beside the bier of a modern samaritan. Testimony to a Friend: "You have done all for me that can be done, I am ready to go, I am just waiting for the Lord to take me home. There is nothing between me and Heaven, Don't keep me waiting, I have nothing against any one, nothing to dread. I don't want you to grieve after me. I think you ought to be shouting." In the passing of Mr. Cave, the community looses one of its oldest and best citizens, Mrs. Simmons, a kind and loving father, Mrs. Cave a faithful companion, a host of neighbors and friends join in heartfelt sympathy. ==================================== www.gosanangelo.com/archive/01/november/24/daily.shtml OMA LOUTENA “TENA” CAVE Oma Loutena “Tena” Cave, 91, of San Angelo died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in a local nursing home. Mary 29 F S.Carolina PAGE 49 Francis 6 M Alabama Elijah 4 M Alabama James READ 25 M Farmer Alabama (I don't know the relationship to these) Rebecca 23 F Alabama John 1 M Alabama data from a REID researcher: We had hit a brick wall on John Reid until we went to the Cave family on geneology. We're looking for more info on John Reid. We find that he married Loucendia Cave. It is on LDS history as marrying her July 3, 1828 in Clarke Co. AL. I believe her sister & the Rabon man on the same day. Do you think John & Loucendia gave their children to the Dodds? Or perhaps died & the Dodds raised them? I somehow think someone said George Washington's family was dead & he went to live with another family which was probably the Dodds. I do know where Bladon Springs is. It has sulfur springs that smell to high heaven. There used to be a spring & it smelled rotton before you got there. I went there as a child. My Dad pastored in Choctaw Co. One of the springs has a shelter over it, but I don't know much about the place. They had to cross a wide river (Tombigbee) to get to Choctaw Co. from Clarke/Washington Co. My husband is a grandson of Geo. Washington Reid. The Rabon man married Loucendia's sister the same day, I think??? in Grove Hill, (County seat). I don't know if John Reid was married more than once. But I believe Loucendia died fairly young. Even George ( the oldest son of John & Loucendia) married a Loucinda Clarke, so it gets very confusing.(data from the reid family Lets see? We have loucendia dodd suspected wife of Johnathan DODD.(1) We have louisa or lucy ann cave dodd,(2) we have her two daughters: Lucy Merilla,(3) and amelia louise(4), we have a son, Louis taylor(5), we have the sister of lucy ann or louise caves dodd who was called Loucendia(6) Their MOTHER was Loucendia Hawkins CAVE Glass (7), we have the niece of Lucy ann called martha Louisa dodd,(8) and Martha Louisa dodd had a sister Laura ann(9) and another sister simply Louise(10). TOO old to be Dugals mom--unless she gave birth at 46? The DODD land was on the choctaw side of that Tombigbee river. It was registered at st.stephens land office which now is a vanished community. Ashley DODD was my gg grandpa and Jonathan DOD was my ggg grandpa-IF our thinking is correct?. WE think Johnathan DODD died before 1860 as Loucendia DODD was head of household in 1860 census with a 14 year old boy Dugal Dodd, relationship unknown.(this thinking of head of household has now changed with the new census data?) WE are needing help on tracking these new people. thanks to the lists for all help, ideas, legends and forgiveness for not seeing this years ago. grin sincerely, judith LAVONIA hugg grimes. grin.
