Kay, After reading the information Kenneth Sims posted to the Causby-L about the James Cozby line, I went to the web site to read about it. That is where I also found the information on your research (http://members.aol.com/kensims01/washco.htm). I am very interested in this because I feel my line must connect to this early Cosby line. I really wish we could figure out how because I then feel we would find our roots with the early Virginia lines. The earliest Causby I have documented in the Burke County, NC area (where my ancestors lived) was a William Causby who entered land in Burke County, NC in the late 1700's. I have been told by others that several Causby brothers came to NC from Virginia. One settled in what is now McDowell County (then Burke), then other settled in present-day Burke County. I have found the Guilford County, NC Causby entries in the 1790 census and wondered if or how they connected to the Burke County lines. I wonder now if they could have been brothers?? Since James Cozby was in Buncombe County in 1820, this leads me to believe they were related since Buncombe County is adjacent to Burke County. Also, I do find the name James used quite a bit in the early Burke County lines. Other prominent early names were John, David, Thomas, Joseph, and Robert. I am interested in what you and the others on the Causby-L think about this.
