He was born in Erving, Mass., July 4, 1907, the son of Elmer and Ethel (Andrews) Cosby. He moved from Erving to Conway in 1957. He spent his last five winters in Sarasota, Fla. Cosby was employed by the former F.W. Mears Co. in Erving and Conway, NH, for more that 30 years. He had been on the Mount Cranemore Ski patrol in North Conway for 27 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Erving Fire Department for more than 20 years and had served as fire chief for several of those years. He had taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and American Red Cross first aid courses. He was a member of the Orange Lodge of Masons AF&AM. Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Janes; a son, Dana E. of Nashua, NH; a daughter, Barbra Deasy of Berlin, NH; a stepson, Donald E. Newton of Conway; a stepdaughter, Betsy Packard of Hollis, NH; a brother, Elmer of Meridian, MS; a sister, Alice Nelson of Gansevoort NY; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at the Conway Village Congregational Church with the Rev George T Davidson Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the Conway Village Cemetery. Upon it conclutions he returned to Shaw AFB SC. On 10 Jun 94, the military moved him to Fort Belvoir, VA and he resides in Stafford VA at 38 Renee Road. He purchased a mobile home. He has two cats, Silver and Misty.
