The JACKSONVILLE TIMES-UNION ONLINE 20 Nov 1998 COSBY - Mrs. Johnnie ``LaVon'' Cosby who passed away on Friday, November 13, 1998, was the daughter of the late John and Stella Mincey Gaffney. As a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida she attended public schools of Duval County and earned certification as a Nurses Assistant. She accepted Christ at an early age at St. James A.M.E. Church. She leaves to mourn her demise a very loving and devoted family, 1 daughter; Mrs. Linda Wesley, 4 sons; Sammie Cosby, Jr. (Christina), Geoffrey Cosby (Katherine), Dwayne Cosby, Sr. and Donival Cosby, 23 grandchildren, sister; Mrs. Deloris Robinson, 2 Aunts; Mrs. Elizabeth Stovall and Mrs. Frances Taylor, goddaughters; Selena and Sharon, Father of her children; Mr. Sammie A. Cosby, Sr., a number of nephews and nieces, a host of cousins other relatives and many sorrowing friends amongst them very devoted friend, Mr. Raymond Henderson. Funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Saturday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church 1620 Helena St., Rev. Dr. R.E. Herring Sr., Pastor. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Park. Viewing this evening (Friday) 4-8 P.M. and at the church 11 A.M.
