I am researching the CAUSBY family of NC, and my brick wall is around 1800 with the Causbys who lived in Burke County, NC. The name was often spelled COSBY back then, but in later years it became CAUSBY. If you know who any of your earlier ancestors were in NC, I would like to know their names. My earliest ancestor was William Causby who entered land in Burke County in 1793. The name Samuel appears in a few of the families of that area. Other common names were John, Thomas, David, Robert, James, and Joseph. There were also some early COSBYS in Guilford County - specifically a Hanse Cosby (often spelled CORSBIE in the early records).
