Where and how we know only by legend. >> Hi Martha, I don't think I have any information on your family except that Christopher Deavours (Devours) Cozby is probably of the Blount County, Alabama Cozby's. There were several Christopher Devours in Blount County. One was a justice of the peace there in the 1800's and was evidently a very well liked man. Many people named their children Christopher Devours after him. The Devours family seems to have come to Blount County from the Pendleton, S.C. area in the early 1800's with a lot of other folks. Since you mention Texas, you are probably descended from one of the sons of James Cozby who went from Blount County, Al.to Texas (Abner, Isaac or William David) Check my website members.aol.com/kensi ms01 click on James Cozby Kenneth Sims
