    2. I am searching for the parents of David Cosby b:abt 1774 in NC(county unknown); m: Hannah b:abt 1783 NC(county unknown & maiden name unknown) in 1850 he & wife Hannah were in Claiborne Co,TN with son William b:abt 1810 TN; m: Elizabeth "Betsy" Williams b:abt 1811 TN. I am sure that there were other children other than William. According to 1850 census son William was born in TN so I assume that by 1810 that David & Hannah were in TN. 1. The CAUSBY list is back!!!
    2. Wanda Rabb
    3. Hello folks.....we're back!!!! It's incredible what Karen and Brian at Rootsweb and Larry Stephens at Indiana University have accomplished moving all the surname lists to the Rootsweb server. NOTE: YOU DO NOT have to subscribe again. Everyone who was already on the list was added. If you are receiving this note - you ARE on the list already. Please read the welcome letter below carefully as Rootsweb operates a little differently from the Maiser server. Please keep the information below for future reference. Note: Currently, the default for replies appears to be to the individual - NOT the list. I will try to get this changed, but I will give the folks at Rootsweb some time for things to settle down first. They have enough to worry about without additional requests. I'll let you know when we get the default changed to "reply to list". Digest forms are available, but since we do not get that much heavy traffic on this list, I don't recommend them. However, if you are interested in the digest form, email me privately and I can send you the information on how they work. Let's start posting again!! ********** Welcome to the CAUSBY mailing list! You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to CAUSBY as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to CAUSBY-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to CAUSBY-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to CAUSBY-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to CAUSBY-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to CAUSBY-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. Wanda Rabb (researching Rabb (NC/SC), (Gantt (NC), Nix, Robertson, Wilson, Connor (Rutherford Co.NC), Laws(Yancey,Rutherford Co., NC), Edwards (Yancey Co, NC), Causby and Patton (Burke/McDowell Co., NC) Paxton (Union Co, NC > Lancaster, SC), Farris and Morris (York Co., SC) Lovelace, Hamrick, Green and McSwain (Cleveland Co NC) Listowner for CAUSBY, RABB, PAXTON and FARRIS Family Mailing LIsts Homepage: http://www.netunlimited.net/~wcr

    1. Joel, John, Grandville, Samuel Cosby
    2. Julia Farmer
    3. Looking for info on any of these Cosbys: Joel, John, Grandville, and Samuel Cosby. Grandville and Samuel died in Oct.1837 in Golconda, Pope Co., IL. John was administrator of their will and Joel was his security. Joel is believed to have come from VA and I found a Joel Cosby in the 1820 Montgomery Co. Va census. Joel was married to a Mary Hickman. Joel died in Aug. 1841 and Mary died April 1842 in Pope. Co. IL. Their children were Josephine, Nancy, Malissa, Louisa, Joel, Jr., and James. Josephine m. Thomas Cowsert Jr., Nancy m.Daniel Kimberlin, Malissa m. William Anderson of Montgomery Co. VA., Louisa m. Harvey Flannery, Joel jr. m. Cynthia Southern and James m. Lucretia Thompson. There were several families that moved to Pope Co. from the Montgomery and Giles Co. VA areas. I would greatly appreciate any info on ancestors or decendents of any of these Cosbys.
