This stone would be placed beside the fieldstones now marking their graves. To accomplish this, we are asking for your financial contribution toward this project. WILLIAM PENNINGTON (1765-1844) and his wife, ABIGAIL CAUDILL (1767- after1860), were the forebears of many of us, Lawrence Countians and others. It is with chagrin that we noted the fieldstones which marked their graves in the Webbville Cemetery were sadly worn away. Without prompt action, future generations will not know where this couple is buried. In fact, most who go to the cemetery have no way of knowing the location of these graves. ELEANOR BREWSTER, of Willard, Carter County, Kentucky, published on her MyFamily website a picture of all that remains of William's stone. She wrote PAUL PENNINGTON, of Augusta, Georgia, who maintains the website and mailing list of descendants of this couple, and he agreed to provide those names as contacts to see if there was interest in replacing the stone. PAT STARZER, another descendant, who lives in Oklahoma, heard of the project and mentioned it to FRANKIE PERRY of Haines, Alaska. We all wanted to do something. We decided on an inscription and type of stone: The inscription would read something like this: "William Pennington Born 3 Nov 1765 North Carolina Died 1844 Webbville, Kentucky And his wife Abigail Caudill Born 27 Mar 1767 North Carolina Died after 1860 Webbville, Kentucky Stone erected 2004 by a few of their many descendants." The stone would be an upright or a beveled marker of gray granite installed on a concrete foundation. Businesses in the area around Webbville were contacted regarding prices for the stone and installation. ~~~Snip~~~ Now we are asking YOU, as a descendant of William and Abigail, to make a donation toward this project. If you want to help, send your check or cash donation to ELEANOR BREWSTER, 4187 State Highway 1496, Grayson,Kentucky 41143 (Phone: 606-474-9502) Please send the donations before MARCH1, 2004. If sufficient contributions come in, the stone will be ordered in March. That means we can plan a dedication service in the May or June. All donors will be contacted about the service. If you have questions about this, you can contact either Eleanor Brewster(address above) or Frankie Perry (Box 216, Haines, AK 99827; emailflap@aptalaska.net). Thank you for your continued interest in our ancestry and for your help in keeping the memory of William and Abigail available to future generations. Sincerely, Eleanor Brewster Paul Pennington Pat Starzer Frankie Perry
