He married Mary Elizabeth Smith, d/o Robert Richard M. Smith and Eliza Jane Brown. 1910 census shows a brother, James Caudill, living with him. Also lists a "Lou" living with him and it appears it says this is his mom. John and Mary had 8 children: Myrtle Mae William Ray Mattie Belle Flora Nannie Lou (my grandmother) Walter C. 3. I've tried connecting these guys without luck so far. It'll probably make me crazy until I do. There are two or three lines in Tazewell. Jeremiah Cordell (b. 1810 - ish) Wilkes County moved up that way sometime before 1840. We know through YDNA that he was kin even though the name is most commonly spelled CORDELL. Jesse P. Caudill had a son Hugh that relocated to Tazewell as well. Not sure when exactly but around 1850 or so near as I can tell. There's a Reunion from these lines, and others, every year in Tazewell. Usually late July. There's a Joseph, Mary, Charles, Gereniah, and Mary CORDLE in the 1850 census that I can't connect yet. I "suspect" they're from Jeremiah's clan but no proof. Spelling changes from CORDELL to CORDLE. Anybody have knowledge? Thanks to all -- Lenny Caudill. -----Original Message----- From: caudill-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:caudill-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2008 8:22 AM To: CAUDILL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CAUDILL] John Walter Caudill b:1885 Tazewell, VA This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
