I'm out here also and could really use some help. Does anyone have a John Caudell hanging around their tree somewhere. He was born about 1796 in Wilkes Co. NC. Died in Breathitt County, KY July 15, 1859. He was married to Nancy Roberts daughter of Moses Roberts and Polly King. Their children were Henry, Moses, Pleasant, Preston, Cynhian, Christy Ann, Sarah, Tabitha, Nancy,John, and Lewis. I descend from Henry Caudell b. 1824 Died 1912, married to Elizabeth Burns. Their son Hardin was my great grandfather. I can't seem to find John's parents anywhere. I live right next to Wilkes county and have checked all the Caudells there, but no one seems to fit. Who was Stephen's father? I find Elisha Caudle in several Surry County censuses (1900, 1930, 1870, 1880). In 1900, he's 52 (b. May 1848) and his father Stephen lives with him (b. Apr. 1825). In 1900, he lives next to Ancel Snow and his wife of 12 years Charity. Ansel was married to Mary Lucinda Caudill Snow prior to her death in 1886. Mary was daughter of John B. Caudill b.1802 Wilkes Co. In 1880, Ancel and Mary live in Cherry Lane, Alleghany Co. 1880 Bryan, Surry: #33 Elisha Cordill, 26, b. 1854 (who was?) #73 John A Cordill, 24, 1856 (who was?) #74 William Cordill29, 1851 (who was?) #80 John C. Cordill, 44, 1836 (son of John B. Caudill) #81 Ruffin Cordill, 35, 1845 (son of John B. Caudill) #88 Ancel Cordill, 30, 1850 (son of John B. Caudill) #89 Stephen Cordill, 55, 1825 (who was?)(his spouse was Ally) #90 Stephen V. Cordill, 25, 1855 (who was?)(son of Stephen?) It's really odd to me that there would be so many Cordill's together yet not related???? I know quite a bit about the family of John B. Caudill yet I can't figure out who this elder Stephen (b. 1825) is? I suspect that Elisha and Stephen V. are his sons.
