Exeter Twsp has: Emma Welch-head- age 54 widow, first married at age 18 (abt.1893) b. IL parents IL Bess B. Weatherall-dau- age 36 divorced, first marr at age 30 b. IL parents IL. Looking at 1900 Census- Charley B. Welch is in Winchester, Scott Co. IL with wife Effie. Looking in Scott County for a woman named Emma born 1875 in IL plus or minus a year with a daughter Bess b. abt 1894 here is what I found also living in Winchester: Fred R. McLaughlin b. June 1872 age 27 married 7 yrs b. IL parents OH wife-Emma b. Nov 1874 age 25 m: 7 yrs had 2 children/2 living b. IL parents IL dau-Bessie b. Mar 1894 age 6 b. IL son-Herbert b. Oct 1896 age 3 b. IL father-Adam b. Apr 1827 age 73 m: 28 yrs b. OH In 1910 census for Winchester Fred and Emma are in the same household with children Bessie, Herbert, and Mary age 9, but Emma is listed as Housekeeper and both Fred and Emma list Divorced as marital status. Looking at Gedcoms for a Fred R. McLaughlin b. 1874 there are a couple that lists he married a Emma Cowan. Hope this helps.
