Pease. Her mother's name was Edwina J. Pease and they were from Porterville. Being new to California at that time, I had no idea where Porterville was (tho' I later married a boy who was Porterville born and raised.) Looking in my yearbooks, I do not find a photo of her - I don't believe she graduated. Either she dropped out of school or the family moved away. As I recall, this Edwina Pease was a prettty good sized woman - tall, 5'8" or 5'9", not really overweight, but with a large build. She was supposed to have participated in the Powderpuff Derby a number of times and won prizes - there were quite a number of trophies in their trailer home, as I recall, but I never actually examined them. There was never any talk of a husband or father and I never asked questions (it was considered rude to do so in those days). Thinking back now, it is very possible tha! t this Edwina never married the father her child. Despite their obviously difficult financial situation, what was so remarkable was the wonderful, open, easy mother-daughter relationship they had. This may all just be coincidental, but perhaps it sounds familiar. Hopefully it will be another small piece of your puzzle. Best of luck in your search.
