I am a descendant of James Andrew DeWitt, the youngest brother of Rev. Allen Wakefield DeWitt. A. W. DeWitt was the father of Samuel Henry DeWitt and William Marcus DeWitt. Both James Andrew DeWItt and Rev. A. W. DeWitt came to CA from ILL. Their father was William French Dewhitt b. in SC in 1794. I would like to exchange information with DeWitt/Dewhitt descendants. I have been working with descendants of Henry Dewhitt, the oldest brother of James Andrew and A.W. on this family's history.
