    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Glavind, Vaughn, Nichols Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HY.2ADE/1736.1.1 Message Board Post: Lena was the daughter of Vilhelm Christian Glavind and Martha Jane Snow. She's listed in Orleans in the 1910 census next door to her brother, my grandfather, Laurits Christian Glavind. The confusion comes that Glavind the elder left Martha in Red Boiling Springs, TN when Laurits was very young, under a year. Lena (Caroline) was the oldest and was born in Crystal, KS in Norton County. Martha remarried a man named Olson and Laurits was known in his youth as Parker, the name of Martha's brother. He appears as Parker Glavind in the 1910 census (Glavind mis-spelled Glaven). He's at the bottom of the page. A line above him are Lena and Elbert. Martha is Mayflower, by the way (from the scalawag of the ship, wouldn't you know ;) ) Glavind was a Danish war veteran, veteran of the 1863-64 Schlosveig-Holstein conflict. From what little we've been able to trace, he was married in Denmark, but no offspring have been identified. Elbert and Lena moved out to Orange, CA and appear there in the 1920 census. They appear separately with Elbert sr and Jr. in Tulare, CA and Lena in the Hermon area of LA. You probably know that Elbert was a Methodist minister. So was Martha's dad. But Hermon (and Orleans) are Free Methodist enclaves. Oddly enough my oldest cousin, Robert Wright, grew up in that same Hermon area, just blocks from where Lena appears with her younger 1/2 brother in a boarding house. I'd be happy to fill anything else you wish to know... It's good to find more relatives! Does this jibe with your own knowledge??? Dave Nichols davennnnn@yahoo.com
