My grandfather, William Vernon Hicks, and 2 of his brother, Monroe and Roy Hicks, came fromTexas to work with kinfolk there.We know that they are cousins of Andrew Rankin and Ernest Robert Hicks, who made their homes there. Andrew seemed to go back and forth from CA to TX before settling his last days there in CA. It is said that Monroe died at the hands of his own kin when in CA. Do not know anymore information than that, only that the one who did it, went to prison and upon getting out, he was killed by Roy and then Roy took his own life in Haskell Co, TX according to family. I have yet to find any solid evidence as far as death or cemetary records for either. And I do not know who the person was that is said to have done this deed. William and his brothers are the sons of William Monroe Hicks and Annie Jane Shinault. We do know that some of each family made their way to CA either to live or ! to work. Any information would be more than appreciated. I have a picture of my grandfather when he was wroking in CA with several other men, but I have no idea who they are.Any help on this matter would be grateful!
