Tulare family history folks, I saw the post about the MOOREs. I am not related but I know of some MOOREs in Tulare County who came from Decatur County, Iowa. If any of you readers are related to the STOKES in Tulare County, Yancy B. STOKES came from Decatur Co., IA too. His 1st wife was Emmeline Elizabeth MOORE. (married 1846) I am a descendent of John James BENTLEY who came to the Visalia area. He had lived in Decatur Co., Iowa too. His sister-in-law was the 2nd wife of Yancy STOKES, a cattle rancher. Back then the farmers and the cattle ranchers in Tulare County led different lives and didn't get along sometimes. In the Decatur Co., Iowa mailing list like our Tulare Co. mailing list there are a few subscribers who are related to the MOOREs. As I remember there were several of the Decatur Moores who came to Tulare Co. The STOKES came before that.
