Vernon is in Fisher County, Tx in 1920 and Henderson Co, TX in 1930. Monroe is said to have died in the mid 30's in CA and Roy in the 50's in Haskell Co, TX. I have the birth and death records online from Andrew and Ernest but have not run across any parents yet. I know that the 1930 SMith Co, Tx census listes Roy and Monroe as cousins to Ernest and Andrew. I will check out the other sire for the obituary in hopes that Ernest's parents are listed.William Monroe, their father is buried in Lynn Co, Tx along with Vernon and his wife, Susie. Just can't make the connection yet between William Monroe, their father and Andrew and Ernests father. Thanks again!! Happy Hunting!

Look at www.vitalsearch-ca.com Death Index 1930 to 1939. There is a Monroe Hicks listed but the image is blurry as to the code for the county of death, but it doesn't look like 56 for Tulare County. Death date looks like 3/23/31 (1931)-Certificate # 16547. If this is your Monroe he would be 29 as he was born abt 1902. The age is blurry too but the it does look ?9. Your Hicks family must have of come to CA after 1930 as I found great grandfather, in TX from 1900 to 1930. 1900 and 1910 in Stephens Co. , 1920 in Fisher Co. and 1930 in Henderson Co. Roy and Monroe are living, listed as cousins with Andrew Rankin Hicks in Smith Co. TX in 1930. Ernest Robert Hicks is the household above. Couldn't find Wm Vernon for 1920 and 1930 census. Andrew and Ernest/Earnest are buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Porterville, Tulare Co. CA and an obit for Ernest was in the Porterville Evening Recorder Dec. 31 1957 to Jan 3 1958. My grandfather, William Vernon Hicks, and 2 of his brother, Monroe and Roy Hicks, came fromTexas to work with kinfolk there.We know that they are cousins of Andrew Rankin and Ernest Robert Hicks, who made their homes there. Andrew seemed to go back and forth from CA to TX before settling his last days there in CA. It is said that Monroe died at the hands of his own kin when in CA. Do not know anymore information than that, only that the one who did it, went to prison and upon getting out, he was killed by Roy and then Roy took his own life in Haskell Co, TX according to family. I have yet to find any solid evidence as far as death or cemetary records for either. And I do not know who the person was that is said to have done this deed. William and his brothers are the sons of William Monroe Hicks and Annie Jane Shinault. We do know that some of each family made their way to CA either to live or ! to work. Any information would be more than appreciated. I have a picture of my grandfather when he was wroking in CA with several other men, but I have no idea who they are.Any help on this matter would be grateful!
