Check for her in the Tehama County Pioneer records http://www.csuchico.edu/lbib/spc/lingenfelter/mtoc.htm Corning was fairly populated for that time frame. Donna Mary Jane CANFIELD LOOMIS SHOLES died 18 Nov 1916 in Corning (or Coening?), California at the age of 91 years. She was buried in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, Illinois, beside her 2nd husband, Orrin SHOLES who had died at age 90 on 10 Jan 1899 in Morrison, Illinois. She had been married 1st 14 Nov 1846 in Whiteside Co, Illinois to Chauncy H. LOOMIS I can't find a place named Coening in California. Maybe the place I'm looking for is Corning, California. I'm trying to find who she was living with as a 91 yr old lady, when she died. My gr-grandfather, Gilbert COLE's youngest son was Cyrus "Dudley" COLE, called Dudley. Cyrus "Dudley" COLE and his wife Eliza ROBERTS and their 3 daughters, Sarah, Stella and _?_ disappeared from Illinois records in 1881 after the birth in January 1881 of the last daughter. C. Dudley COLE was Mary Jane SHOLES step-grandson. I wonder if she lived in California with or near him? Please Write: Mary Kay COLE WARD, 1432 Yeardley Drive, Richmond, Virginia 23225-2906. Thanks!
