The CA Death Index was published July 1905-1995. A listing from the Death index will give you the county location of death, the date of death, spouse's initials, soc. security number or age at death for those deaths before 1940, the certificate number for ordering the death certificate from the county or state. I have access to 1940-94 if you need a lookup.
