The following was posted by Jeannette L. Molson <JLMolson@ao.com> on Sat, 08 Jan 2000 on the Tehama County GenConnect Query Forum: - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Surname: BLICK, CHRISTIAN, COFFEY, DIX, JOHNSON, LOGAN, LOVE, RODRIGUEZ, SIMPSON, STEPHENS Alfred Jefferson LOGAN (1814-?) was in Tehama County as early as 1860. He brought his family, a wife, Nelly, and six children, from Arkansas. The six children were: Griffin LOGAN (1842-1885), Green Berry LOGAN (1844-1905), Emily LOGAN (1850), Lucy Ann LOGAN (1852), George LOGAN (1854) and Napolean Bonaparte LOGAN (1857). Alfred Jefferson LOGAN is listed on the 1860 and 1870 Tehama Census'. He is also listed on the Tehama Great Register for 1875 and 1877. He left, for Los Angeles County, around 1880 where he is listed, with his second wife, Maria Guadalupe RODRIGUES, who he married in Tehama Co. 12 Aug 1877. They had a son, Jefferson LOGAN, who was born in Tehama County in 1878. Maria RODRIGUES was divorced from Rosendo RODRIGUES. Alfred Jefferson LOGAN, (A.J.), at one time owned over 5500 acres of land, which included two U.S. Land Patents in Tehama County. Alfred's son, Griffin LOGAN, was murdered in Lassen County, 11 Nov 1885. Griffin was married to Eliza Bird, aka Annie E. BURNETT, in Tehama County 10 Mar 1867. They had seven children all born in Tehama County. Alfred's second son, Green Berry LOGAN, Sr. (my great grandfather), was married, 1 Jan 1867, to Lavinia Bassett COFFEY in Shasta County. Green Berry and Lavinia had three children, Nellie Elizabeth LOGAN (CHRISTIAN,LOVE), Alvin Alfred LOGAN, Sr. and Green Berry LOGAN, Jr. Green Berry's second marriage, in 1874, was to Mary Ann DIX; they had nine children. Alfred's first wife, Nellie, was born in 1812 and died 14 Jun 1862. She is buried in Tehama Cemetery. Alfred's second wife was reputed to have died 6 May 1899 and is supposed to be buried in Cottonwood, however, her grave has never been found in the surrounding cemeteries. What happened to the other children of Alfred Jefferson (A.J.) LOGAN? Napolean is listed on the 1900 Yuba Co. Census but nothing after that and I can find nothing on Emily, Lucy Ann or George. Any information, on these families, would be of great help. I am willing to share what I have gathered over these last 20 years. - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any replies should be sent to the Tehama County GenConnect Query Forum [<http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ca/Tehama>] unless it is personal or involves live people addresses etc. when it should be sent to Jeannette L.
